Chapter 13 - 11 This World, So Ugly
With the second pinpoint shattered,
a new image appeared before Brian.
It was the first time he had seen the real face of the single mother, Emmaline Keller.
Although the 27-year-old mother was not strikingly beautiful, her soft features, and the permanent, gentle smile on her lips made her easily likeable, portraying her as a kind-hearted woman.
And indeed, she was.
In the scene,
Emmaline Keller, dressed in pajamas, looked worriedly at her staggering drunk neighbor, Andres, who had appeared before her.
She hesitated, glancing towards the second floor, but eventually decided to help Andres into the room. She considerately poured him a glass of water and fed it to him, before taking a coat to seemingly go and fetch Andres' wife from next door to take the drunken neighbor off her hands.
She did not notice that Andres, seemingly reeking of alcohol, transformed the moment she turned away. His previously blurry drunk eyes became greedy...
