I paced my office after mind-linking Reid and asking him to come.
Kurtis was at one corner of the room, a patient smile on his face. It was as if he had anticipated everything that was happening and I couldn’t blame him. He was used to things like this, I should have listened to him.
A while later, Reid entered into my office. He was covered with sweat and I could see the sincerity in his eyes. I’ve known that my Beta was going to be Reid since I was old enough to dream. Back then before I came to Moon Whisper, I would always dream of him sitting next to me, tagging along and pledging his loyalty to me.
It was the Beta bond and although the mate bond was stronger the Beta bond was far more dangerous. No matter what, my Beta can never lie to me. In cases where it happens, severing it could be the most painful thing that can ever happen and in some situations, it may lead to instant death.
"Your Majesty!" he bowed when he entered my office. I nodded at Kurtis permitting him to go ahead with the questioning. I couldn’t bring myself to do it.
"What’s your relationship between you and Princess Jade?" He asked quietly rising to his feet. "And it’ll be wise if you told us nothing but the truth. That’s all we want from you, Reid,".
"Your Majesty!" Reid scoffed "What is going on and why should I be answering to a mere Alpha?".
"Just answer the damn question, Reid," I said with a sigh. "Please, put my mind at ease and prove to me that you have nothing to do with Selene’s disappearance, okay?"
