Chapter 200: Alarm bells
Selene POV
Alarm bells went off in my head when I saw Maeve and Vina in front of Nora. They looked dirty and their hair was a mess. I didn’t know if these were my kids or a cloned version of them.
"I know you’ll be surprised but you’re too calm. I thought you’d be raining fire or brimstone seeing that the girls are with me. C’mon Selene... aren’t you surprised? I deserve some credit for my cleverness, right?"
I pulled myself together, trying to fight the fear that had crept into my heart as I faced her. "I don’t know where you got these clones that look like my children but you can’t fool me because they’re with their father and I know Xavier would not...".
"Mummy..." Vina sobbed "It’s truly us. Some men came and took us away when daddy wasn’t looking. It’s not his fault,".
"Yes!" Nora added "Xavier is not an attentive father. A lot has been happening down there if you must know and he got a little carried away. The girls got lost and somehow, they ended up in my care and honestly, I wish it didn’t have to get to this but you’re stubborn, Selene and to go against you, one must be twice as stubborn too,".
"Fine!" I said vehemently as panic coursed through my body. I couldn’t believe that the girls had gone missing and Xavier didn’t tell me. "What do you want from me?"
"Pack your rags and leave the pack house, drop your resignation and Luna and sign the divorce papers that will put an end to you and Noah’s union. In return, I’ll give you cash compensation and the girls of course but if you insist on holding on, then the girls stay with me and...".
"Okay!" I interrupted her "Fine, I’ll leave and do whatever you want me to do. Just let the girls go and honestly, you’re a big disappointment to motherhood. They’re your grandchildren Nora. I can’t believe you’re using them as a bargaining chip,".
