Chapter 198: I am the Luna of Moon Whisper and I will protect it with everything
Selene POV
I spent at least thirty minutes in my car in the driveway of the pack house, refusing all the help from the pack guards. I couldn’t help but wonder when this cycle will end. I spent the better part of my life running away from everything and now, it seemed like they were all catching up with me.
If anything should happen to Noah... I shook my head trying to avoid the train of thought. Plus, it didn’t help that my wolf Bea has been quiet lately. She was either not responding to me at all or would come with her usual one-liners and then stay silent for another few days.
Also, Kragen has been silent. He was used to showing up when I was in trouble... he once told me he could sense when I needed his help and I was counting on that now. If he came, he would be able to help me clear my head and settle more than half of my worries.
But I also knew he was busy and had other pressing things to do. After all, he was the King of the underworld. Sighing, I removed my seatbelt and came down from the car tossing the key to the guard on duty. I needed to go to my office first, I had a lot of work on my desk that I was supposed to check this morning. Knowing who Brooke was, she was probably still in bed.
Something strange happened... as soon as I entered the corridor that led to my office, I picked up an unfamiliar scent. Following the scent, I traced it down to the door of my office. Puzzled, I noticed my door was half open and there was a greasy stain on the knob. Pushing the door with my feet, I walked inside, making sure my displeasure was boldly written on my face but I stopped short when I saw Nora – Noah’s sister sitting on my chair with her legs cris-crossed on my desk. She even had her shoes on.
Standing on either side of her, were two burly men masked to the teeth, holding weapons. The ambience in the room spelt nothing but danger and I knew I had to go about it the right way.
"I wasn’t expecting to see you here," I said quietly "What’s up?"
"Curious," she shrugged staring at me with a smug smile on her face. "You left the hospital nearly an hour ago and you’re just getting to the pack house? Just before you lie... I checked all of your favourite places... combed every corner of the pack trying to find you. Where have you been? Did you stop to meet up with your little conspirators?"
