Xavier’s POV
I had just stepped out of the shower trying to wipe off the worst of the water on my damp hair when I spotted Selene sprawled on my bed, eyes closed. I jumped in surprise causing her to open her eyes. She pushed herself into a sitting position when she was it was staring at me drowsily.
"I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you. The door was opened when I came and you were in the shower too, I didn’t want to make it too obvious. Also," she paused "I know, I promised to do dinner with you and the girls but my meeting with Noah took longer than expected, don’t worry, I’ll make it up to you all,".
"It’s fine!" I nodded vaguely aware that I had nothing on but my pajamas bottom. "I wasn’t expecting to see you in my room at this time," My eyes strayed to the clock on the wall "Are you sure it’s okay for you to be here right now?" I asked anxiously. I thought people gossiped in Greyhound but since I arrived here, I realized that the people here were dedicated gossips and the smallest of meetings could spark a lot of reactions and raise eyebrows too.
"Don’t worry," she gave me another drowsy smile, stifling a yawn behind her hand "I just need to leave before the pack house comes alive and busy in the morning. We’ll be fine. Also, most of the rooms in this quarter have back doors leading to the garden and I just confirmed yours is one of them. I could have gone to the garden for a morning stroll or anything, It’s one of my favourite hobbies here,".
I looked at her with confusion wondering what she was talking about. "Wait! Are you spending a night in my room? Like right here in the same room with me?"
She arched a brow towards me, lips pressed in disdain "Were you expecting me to lie beside you in the presence of everyone in the pack?" she asked "I’m here to make sure you heal and get at least half of your energy before you return. Remember Kragen said after four days if nothing is done, you might relapse. Or did you forget about it already? Are you even taking the medicine he brewed for you?"
"One question at a time, Selene," I chuckled "Yes, I am taking the medicine he brewed for me religiously and honestly, I wasn’t expecting we would go about it this way. I was a bit worried that Noah would not agree in the first place but now that he has agreed, will sleeping in my room be fine? I don’t want troubles especially now,".
"It’s fine, Xavier," she stifled another yawn "Listen, your life is at stake here and except you think you won’t be able to control your impulses around me," she gave me a meaningful look "Noah is aware and has given his approval so the earlier we do this, the better for us. We don’t have a lot of time. But if you feel uneasy about it and you don’t trust yourself, I could go back to my room until we come up with the best way to go about it,".
