Chapter 140: Men are wary...
Selene POV
The warm glow of dusk bathed the small hill overlooking Moon Whisper as I quietly approached Xavier and Lucius. They were sitting in silence, gazing into nothing with their backs turned to me. I stood for a minute admiring them. Lucius in his usual cold look was looking relaxed while Xavier had a contemplative look on his face. His brows were arched in a frown.
I stood there for a while watching both men until Lucius turned, our eyes met and I raised my left hand to wave at him with a smile on my face but he turned his gaze away from me then leaned towards Xavier and murmured something before rising and brushing past me without a word. He was giving me the silent treatment. Since our face off some days ago, he’s been making it obvious that he didn’t want to talk to me or relate to me in any form.
I watched as he descended the hill in quick strides then I turned towards Xavier who was watching me quietly with a soft smile on his face now. "He’ll come around eventually, I promise, He just needs time. He needs to understand that things will not always go the way he wants,".
Shaking my head, I joined Xavier on the grass, our shoulders brushed as I settled beside him "Still I wish he’ll stop ignoring me. It’s been going on for a few days, even the girls noticed. I didn’t think he’d be the type to keep malice, honestly. Why it’s amusing to me, I’m also concerned that he’s overdoing it. Don’t you think,".
"Well, I am not surprised," Xavier laughed "Back when we were married, he’d give me the silent treatment for days, I think the most was for a month and it was back when I started..." he trailed off as he winced painfully. I knew what he was going to say so I decided to help him.
"When you started sleeping with Belinda?" I asked turning to gaze at him. Let him drown in his guilt, I don’t care.
"Yes," he nodded lowering his gaze "When he found us in my study being improper, he stormed out and didn’t talk to me for a month. He’d show up to his duties, attend meeting and stuff but he wouldn’t speak to me directly. It was so frustrating but eventually he started talking to me but occasionally when I mess up, he ignores me. He’s not so much of a confrontational person and he thinks talking all the time will zap his strength. To be honest, I think you’re the only person he spends more than five minutes talking to back then in Greyhound,".
