Chapter 67: Changing husbands like clothes...
Selene POV
"That’s not what I mean," Leonard said calmly "You might be forced to take sides and you should know all of these things are inevitable. There’s no telling what you may do differently when you start having children for my son,".
"So, what are you advising then? What do you think I should do?"
"First, you must make sure that Noah doesn’t adopt the girls as his children. They belong to Xavier and as women, they can be married into good families, I’ll make sure of that. Secondly, regarding the marriage, we could start making contacts and see if they can be betrothed now and later when they’re of age, we can get them married,".
My eyes twinkled with amusement at the seriousness I saw on his face. To think he was giving me this advice because he cared amused me even more. Was he so sure that I would do whatever he said?
"So, if Xavier should get married to another Luna and have children with her, we can safely guarantee the girls’ portion of inheritance without having problems," he said finally.
"Okay," I nodded "Thank you for your kind advice, Grand Lycan but as you know, at the end of the day, I am only the mother and will have no say in the futures of my children. We don’t have a lot of power you know,".
"Well!" he shrugged "You could convince your husband and take advantage of his generosity,".
"If that had a 100% guarantee, I’m sure Nora wouldn’t have allowed me to marry Xavier. The decision was made even without her consent. Xavier was dying and all his father wanted was a way to preserve his life. His mom wanted that too but she was expecting someone from a nobler family than me,".
"Let’s stop going back to the past, Selene. We’ve been over this several times. Okay, tell me... what other means could be employed in situations like this?"
"By recognizing the office of the Luna as an executive arm. We all know being a Luna means dressing pretty and supporting your husband without having any original voices of our own. We should participate in decision-making, welfare of the pack and every other thing other than being sidelined. Being a Luna is beyond breeding an heir,".
