Chapter 40 - The Aura of an Emperor! Eliminating Hidden Threats!
Chapter 40 The Aura of an Emperor! Eliminating Hidden Threats!
Those who walk the path of cultivation, even the strongest among them, have a lifespan of no more than ten thousand years. Ultimately, none can remain in this world forever.
In the end, their bodies wither, and their vitality fades. To go further and attain true immortality, there is only one path—becoming a Great Emperor!
But while it’s easy to say, becoming a Great Emperor is incredibly difficult—among billions, even over millions of years, only one may emerge. The key is stepping onto the path to emperorship!
Every Great Emperor possesses a unique, personal inheritance known as a Great Dao. E2Only by treading this exclusive Dao can one aspire to ascend to the position of Emperor. Furthermore, each Dao can only give rise to one Emperor!
For example, Su Ming’s father—the Wuji Demon Emperor of the Wuji Demon Palace—had inherited the ancient Dao exclusive to their sect.
For someone at the Dao-Walking Realm to aspire to become a Great Emperor, they must either:
Forge a brand-new, never-before-seen Dao, or Challenge an existing Dao tied to a former Emperor, defeat them, and take their place. But neither of these paths was easy.
Creating your own Dao might sound simple, but if everyone had the wisdom and power to do so, Great Emperors would be common.
As for defeating one…
In the presence of a Great Emperor, those not yet at the Emperor Realm are no more than ants!
There was, however, another path that drives people mad with desire. Finding the Great Dao left behind by a fallen ancient Emperor. Take the Yellow Springs Emperor for instance. He was once a mighty overlord in ancient times.
But for unknown reasons, he perished, and his Emperor inheritance was cut off. If he left no successor, then whoever obtains his Dao can truly become an Emperor!
If news of Su Ming possessing the Yellow Springs Map leaked, countless Dao-Walking experts would be desperate to take it. With this map in hand, Su Ming’s path to emperorship was essentially guaranteed.
“The Yellow Springs Emperor’s path to becoming Emperor… its strength is unknown.”
“Heh, every lucky one has their own Emperor Dao. With enough time, I can slowly choose.”
Su Ming’s lips curled into a smile.
Having dealt with Fang Yuhan, his thoughts drifted toward another “lucky one.”
“Next up should be Ye Chen.”
“I wonder how he’s been doing. Has he been a good little treasure-seeking mouse, collecting goodies for me?”
With that thought, Su Ming stepped out of the grand hall. Outside, the Daoist of Ascension still waited respectfully.
“Your Highness.”
Fang Qingxue also looked over.
“I’ve dealt with Fang Yuhan. The inheritance from the Blood Mountain Ancestor within him is now completely severed,”
Su Ming stated.
“Your Highness, you’ve worked hard,”
the Daoist of Ascension flattered eagerly.
“You’ve rid our Three Thousand Great Worlds of a menace!”
“Exactly! And you’ve protected our Ascension Sect,” another chimed in.
“Had Your Highness not seen through his deception, Fang Yuhan might have taken over the sect by now!”
The surrounding elders all joined in with their sycophantic praise.
“Thank you, Your Highness,”
Fang Qingxue offered a slight bow, full of gratitude. If not for Su Ming’s presence, she truly wouldn’t have known how to handle Fang Yuhan.
Su Ming smiled, exchanged a few comforting words with her, then returned to his own palace.
With Fang Yuhan dead, Su Ming’s business with the Ascension Sect had concluded. But he was in no rush to leave.
This time, he had gained a significant amount of Demonic Charm Points, some of which he had already spent on the Yellow Springs Map. The rest wouldn’t go to waste either—his next goal was a cultivation breakthrough.
“Current cultivation: Early Myriad Laws Realm.”
“You can spend 5,000 Demonic Charm Points to boost your cultivation progress.”
“Proceed.”
Inside the palace, Su Ming didn’t hesitate to spend the 5,000 points he had accumulated. Instantly, radiant white light surged, and his spiritual power began increasing at a visible rate.
Within just a few breaths, his cultivation was nearing the mid Myriad Laws Realm. He repeated the process several times.
“Buzz…!”
Su Ming’s eyes snapped open, divine light flowing from them. A majestic aura burst out from within him—he had successfully advanced to the mid Myriad Laws Realm.
“The cultivation boost was pretty quick.”
“But it still cost me three rounds of Demonic Charm Points.”
He glanced at his status panel. The 50,000 points he had just earned were now nearly gone.
“Still not enough.”
He frowned slightly. There were still many areas that required Charm Points. Cultivation breakthroughs, skill upgrades, refining treasures of fate…
Each of these required massive point expenditures.
“Looks like I’ll have to find ways to gather more points.”
Though it was easy to become a demon, accumulating vast amounts of Demonic Charm Points was truly an art. Meanwhile, in a vast underground palace, the sounds of battle and roars echoed.
Several titanic mechanical beasts, each over ten zhang tall, rampaged through the space. Their strength was terrifying, and the young men and women fighting them were clearly overwhelmed.
Any contact with the beasts resulted in bloody injuries.
“Hold on! Reinforcements are almost here!”
“Use your divine abilities to defend!”
These young fighters, all wearing ornate clothing, were at least at the Divine Sea Realm or Nether-Passage Realm. They unleashed countless spells—resplendent, radiant—but the mechanical beasts were unfazed. Instead, the youths were steadily pushed back.
“Not good, we can’t hold them off!”
Panic spread among them. One man had his magical artifact shattered by a beast’s punch and was left defenseless.
At the critical moment.
“Divine Talisman, go!”
A powerful shout rang out from the perimeter.
A brilliant light exploded forth.
Boom!
The underground palace shook.
The nearest mechanical beast was instantly obliterated by a terrifying explosion. On its shattered remains stood a proud figure—clad in black robes, with refined features and heroic bearing.
“It’s Big Brother Ye!”
“Brother Ye is here!”
As cheers erupted, the morale of the crowd soared. The newcomer was none other than Ye Chen. His face radiated pride, a stark contrast to the disheveled state he’d been in after fleeing the Cangyun Dao Sect.
In the past month, he had explored ruins far and wide, relying on the Divine Talisman Stone Tower to collect two of the twelve Divine Talismans.
One was the Blazing Flame Talisman, capable of creating a sea of fire upon activation. Infused with the power of both heavenly and earthly flames, its temperature was extreme—ordinary magical artifacts would be reduced to ash instantly.
The other was the Explosive Talisman, the one he had just used. Its destructive power was immense—one detonation was enough to annihilate even massive mechanical beasts!
