Chapter 138: Identity Exposed!
Before the Annual General Meeting started, Mel asked Max to check Mario’s condition in the basecamp.
She was supposed to be at base camp today to visit Mario, but now she’s under house arrest by Andrew. So, she’ll just have a video call with him. After all, Mario’s condition is still severe. He can’t be visited directly.
"Boss, Mr. Mario is conscious, and his mental condition has begun to stabilize." Max’s voice sounded in her ear. Instantly she smiled happily.
She quickly typed on her laptop to start a video call with Mario in the treatment room at XTeam basecamp.
"Yoo, brother!! You look so terrible, huh!" Mel chirped even though her heart was aching because she knows how terrible his current condition was.
Part of his face was wrapped in bandages, his eyes were swollen and blue. She also saw one of his arms using an arm sling, half his body covered in bandages. Anton said all his nails were pulled out, and several parts of his body were stabbed and skinned.
Mario, lying motionless on his bed just about to close his eyes due to sleepiness, was surprised to hear Mel’s voice coming from the TV on the room wall. He raised his head a little to look at the TV and smiled to see her.
With his soft and trembling voice, he said, "I-I did. But, I still have the power to beat you, sister." He laughed, but instantly his face felt so hurt from the tugging at his skin.
The moment Mel saw Mario wince in pain, her heart ached. Instantly her anger welled up from within her chest, wanting to take revenge on the perpetrators who had tortured him. However, she didn’t want to show her anger and sadness before him, afraid that he would feel even more sad and depressed.
