Chapter 120: Love?
She walked quickly toward the main gate. However, before she reached the gate, she heard someone calling her name. She stopped her stroll and looked back. Her heart tightened when she saw her father standing not far from her.
Instantly the memory of eleven years ago flashed through her mind when she and her mother left this mansion...
Mel hears her mother’s voice calling her name, "Mel, wake up!" her voice was very close to her ear. She tried to open her eyes, but they felt cumbersome like someone had applied glue on her eyes.
"Mel, Melanie, hurry up, wake up!" her mother’s voice was heard again. Her voice was slightly shrill and sounded impatient. Mel, who could feel her mother’s cold hand on her shoulder, slowly opened her eyes half. "Melanie, please get up quickly. We have to go immediately!" After much effort, she was finally able to open her eyes completely. She blinked a few times to clear up her blurry vision.
She saw her mother sitting beside the bed. Her face looked pale, her grey eyes were blank and slightly reddish, her black curly hair was tied up carelessly, she looked like she had aged more than her actual age.
Mel sat facing her mother without asking because she felt like she hadn’t really woken up right now. Her mind was still blank.
She saw, in her mother’s smooth white hands holding a thick black jacket, just before she asked, her mother saying... "Put this on," she said, her voice trembling.
Mel took the jacket and put it on immediately, without asking. Her mother didn’t say anything, and neither did Mel. The room was so quiet, like everyone in the mansion had fallen asleep. It was so quiet she could hear the sound of snow falling on the ground outside.
"We have to go right now." Her mother said in a low voice, breaking the silence.
