Chapter 18: Her Only Granddaughter
Grandma looks very elegant in her office outfit. Her dark and grey hair is neck-short and a little curly. When Mel asks why she doesn’t dye her hair black, Grandma says she looks fancier with gray hair. Grandma is right, she is more suited with that hair tone, even though there are visible wrinkles, but her face still looks bright and beautiful.
Even though she is now approaching 70 years old, she still looks in her late 50s. She also looks fit with her works in her company, and she also has several philanthropic activities with her humanitarian foundation.
Grandma is a very influential person in the city S; even in the country, she was pretty well-known for her humanitarian activities. Last year she received awards from the President and UNICEF for her involvement in many social projects, helping many disadvantaged people in this country and several neighboring countries.
Mel is very proud of her Grandma even though she never tells her Grandma about that.
Most people have a sweet relationship with their father and mother. But, for Mel, what she’s got chiefly is her adorable relationship with Grandma. It seems she loves Grandma more than she loves her parents. Even she has long forgotten about her dad.
Grandma has taken care of her since she was a little, teach her to be a brave and independent woman. She remembers his Grandma’s advice.
’Mel... you must always follow your heart and not to give up, not easily. You must be strong for yourself so that others will not take you for granted.’
Grandma was the only one who had taken care of her when she had to fight a comma for two years and a year of recovery. After recovery, Grandma sent her to a boarding school in M country. She is very grateful for that. She’s now a tough woman; thank you for what Grandma has done to her. A woman who doesn’t give up easily. It’s all because of her experience of living alone in another country.
"Grandma... I miss you so so much!!" Mel shouts in a spoiled voice.
