Chapter 88: Emperor’s Concubine
Helan was shocked beyond words when he heard Lizzy. He immediately looked at Allynna.
"Ally, tell us what really happened to you. Don’t hide anything from us, so we can help you escape from this forced engagement." Helan said. His face looks so intense with genuine concern. He feels sad about Allynna’s misfortune; she has a miserable life. After her parents died, her family sold her to a palace.
Was she really sold to become an Emperor concubine?
Helan glanced at Ikaris, who was standing far from them. He now suspected Ikaris was one of the Emperor’s men. He accompanied Allynna to guard her. The way he carried himself near Allynna was very suspicious. He looked like a guard or servant rather than a cousin.
Feeling uneasy, Helan stared at Allynna for a while. After he felt that he couldn’t contain his curiosity, he said, "Sh*t, Ally!! Were you sold as the Emperor’s concubine? That’s impossible, right!?" For the first time in Helan’s life, he cursed someone. And that person was his best friend, Allynna. Someone he greatly admired and wanted to protect.
Instantly he felt his heart hurt from cursing her, but he couldn’t avoid it. He was completely shocked by the image he had in mind, Allynna being forced to become a concubine.
How could that happen? No! This is all just his imagination, right?
Lizzy was also speechless hearing Helan’s words. Ally, her best friend, is the Emperor’s concubine? Can someone slap me so I can wake up from this dream?
"Allynna, are you kidding, right? What Helan said is not true, right?" Lizzy looks at Allynna, who remains silent. Instantly Lizzy is feeling worried; Allynna’s silence means, YES!
