Chapter 85: Why Do You Like Me?
When Iris emerged from her bedroom, she noticed that the lights in the living room had been dimmed, leaving only a few decorative lamps illuminated in the corner.
’Why did he suddenly turn off the lights?’ she silently wondered, her amazement growing as she could feel the romantic vibe of the living room. The distant sound of crashing waves and the crackling of burning wood added to the romantic ambiance.
Iris spotted Xavier seated in a leather recliner near the fireplace. Her steps halted when she saw his eyes closed as if he were fast asleep. She hesitated to approach him but couldn’t resist her curiosity to observe him more closely, attracted by this rare sight of him sleeping.
When Iris noticed Xavier opening his eyes, she quickly apologized, "Sorry to keep you waiting, Xavier..."
Iris felt guilty because she had lost track of time, realizing she had nearly taken an hour to spend in her room, trying to calm her racing heart and mind.
A faint smile graced Xavier’s lips as he reassured her, "It’s okay. Come, sit here..." He pointed to the reclining chair next to him. "Is the temperature warm enough for you?" he asked, noticing her wearing a gray coat over her nightgown.
"Yeah, it’s quite warm," Iris replied, taking a seat beside him. She stole a quick glance at him, finding him gazing at the flames dancing in the fireplace.
After a few minutes passed in silence, Iris decided to start a conversation, "It’s really...tranquil here. Do you always spend your holidays alone in this place?"
"Hmm, yes. I like quiet places," The cold man responded, turning his gaze toward her.
