Chapter 2: I Wish You Were My Mother
It was night time, although it was tradition for the whole family to stay at the old house during the weekend, Li Lingyun told the old master that he could not stay for the night.
"Why not?" Old master Li asked with a frown.
"I have to travel for a business deal tonight."
"I wonder how you grew up this way, you care for nothing apart from business not even for your old man anymore."
"Stop exaggerating grandpa. And besides don’t you think this tradition is getting old already. You forced people who don’t like each other to have dinner together."
"How dare you speak to your grandfather like that?" Li Qi said coldly
"I don’t need you to defend me. Anyway you can leave but Li Xiao is staying with me till you come back from your business trip."
Li Lingyun looked at Li Xiao who was busy playing with the maid and immediately disagree "Li Xiao is a naughty child, I don’t think you will be able to keep up with her wits."
Old Master Li lift up his stick and used it to hit Like Lingyun leg as he said "Are you calling me old? Don’t forget I was the one who raised you."
"Uncle, Great grandfather is right, Li Xiao can stay here and we will all look after her while you are on your business trip and besides I am sure we can take better care of her more than Shen Yi."
Shen Yi, the adopted daughter of the Shen family and wife of Li Lingyun. She hated her daughter because she felt she could no longer continue her dream of being an actress because of Li Xiao. Force to keep her pregnancy and even married a man known to be terrifying made her bitter and hateful towards the father and daughter.
