Chapter 7: A Hurdle that teaches
Eiden arrived at the college feeling dejected due to the realization of the harsh truth regarding his wealth, but he wasn’t anxious anymore. In fact, he felt a little better thanks to the company of his childhood friend Sasha, who had managed to distract him on the way with her usual cheerfulness.
They split at the sight of the college gates, as Sasha spotted her group of friends and immediately trotted toward them. The two exchanged a casual "later," and Eiden continued walking by himself.
He wasn’t a loner. Not in the slightest. He had friends too it was just that he hadn’t had time to hang out with them the past few days due to the unusual events happening in his life. Getting swallowed by a mysterious system, discovering he could steal girls from existing harems, and having to navigate college politics while hiding his powers wasn’t exactly time-efficient.
Despite not being rich, Eiden had managed to click with a group of students who were well-off. Some of them were above average rich not ultra-wealthy elites, but definitely kids who didn’t worry about the price of their lunch. Well Eiden wasn’t particularly poor either just average atleast . They got along with Eiden because they shared similar interests games, anime, the occasional sarcastic rant about the education system. Though, deep down, Eiden always suspected that a few of them initially tried to befriend him just to get close to Sasha. But somewhere along the way, shared jokes and common passions transformed those superficial beginnings into real friendships. Of course, it still stung that he didn’t have their money. And nowhere did that sting more than right now, on this very campus. But his friends didn’t seem to mind it so he didn’t he really felt left out before , But they definitely won’t spare a friend’s feeling as they repeatedly made fun of him in group chat after the news of him getting rejected by Linda got exposed , despite this they were still friends as in the end they were all SINGLE at the end of the day .
As he walked further toward the main building, a sudden rev of an engine caught his attention. A sleek red Bugatti zoomed past and parked elegantly in the private parking lot reserved for the highest donors and VIPs. The envy that rippled through the air was almost palpable. Even some of the above-average rich kids turned their heads, eyes narrowed.
Out stepped Eva Marvelle , she was a second-generation rich kid, the daughter of a mega businessman who just happened to be the CEO of Samsung. No one had ever seen her wear the same clothes twice. Rumor had it she threw her outfits away after a single use, like disposable tissue. She was beautiful unreachable. Like a moon behind thick glass. Her dreamy golden eyes shimmered in the morning sun, matching her silky blonde hair that seemed almost liquid in the light. Her pale skin, flawless and delicate, gave her a fragile porcelain-doll vibe that instinctively triggered a protective urge in not just males, but even some females.
She walked out of the car in designer clothes, her figure turning heads as she moved with the effortless grace of someone born into privilege. Eiden had seen her many times before. He had admired her from a distance, sure, but never had he cared too much. Back then, he wasn’t even thinking about getting girls. That world felt too far from his reality. But now?
Now he had to get girls. That was literally his mission. And suddenly, the distance between him and Eva felt like the gap between heaven and earth. He sighed heavily. Even among the rich kids, Eva was a different breed an Elite. The few elites around the campus were untouchable, admired, envied, but never truly approached.
Still deep in thought, Eiden continued walking toward his class when something or rather someone caught his eye. A figure partially hidden behind a large pillar. Lyra?
