Chapter 1: Betrayed And Abandoned
The classroom buzzed with low murmurs.
Some students were still settling into their seats.
Professor Halden had arrived five minutes ago, tapping his fingers on the desk while waiting for the latecomers to stop trickling in.
I leaned back in my chair, half-listening to the idle chatter around me. It was just another day.
Until the floor lit up.
A deep blue light pulsed under our feet.
Intricate runes snapped to life, carving themselves into the tiles with blinding speed. It looked like a magic circle from the animes.
Before anyone could scream, the world twisted.
When I opened my eyes, the classroom was gone. So were the whiteboards and desks.
We stood in a wide marble hall with high-arched windows.
Lining the walls were men and women dressed in robes embroidered with gold and silver.
