Chapter 62: That’s What Friends Are For
Time flies too fast to enjoy her birthday all day long which is very sweet. Victoria admits that today is the best birthday in her life because her husband loves her very much and gives her something she likes the most. On her birthday she got a scarlet heart necklace and heard her favorite instrument. Both symbolize the love of a couple will continue to be eternal even though there are storms that hit their relationship throughout their life. Does this mean that she will not divorce Matthias?
If she compared celebrating her birthday with Matthias and Ansel, she could tell the difference without thinking twice. Matthias was really sensitive and the type of man who didn’t need to be told very detailed information, but already knew what she wanted. While Ansel also loved her very much and always gave her sweet surprises on her birthday. However, the surprises that Ansel gave her didn’t seem special. Even if she thought about it when Ansel proposed to her, Victoria felt that there was a significant difference from Matthias’ treatment of her. Although at first Matthias seemed too pushy, actually Matthias intended to love her sincerely. That’s why she likes Matthias now.
To conclude today’s very special birthday celebration, Matthias invited all his best friends to celebrate his wife’s birthday. Because he was still traumatized by all the problems they had faced so far, for the time being he did not dare to step foot outside the house. The only friends he invited were Sawyer, Jennifer, and Louis. Of course he does not want to invite Ansel, because his enemy will destroy his relationship with the lovely wife.
Among everyone, only Sawyer and Jennifer were a little awkward as they sat side by side on the living room couch. Matthias understood the awkwardness between his two friends, because they failed to get engaged in the past. While now their relationship is just good friends, but always remembering their past moments.
"By the way, thank you for coming to my birthday party which seemed too simple like this," said Victoria with a shy smile.
Sawyer responded with a friendly smile. "It’s okay. If I were Matthias, I would definitely choose to celebrate my birthday inside, it’s much safer."
"You’re the best, Sawyer!" Matthias cheered, giving two thumbs up.
Jennifer narrowed her eyes at Matthias. "Speaking of which, since when did you and Victoria seem to get along? Didn’t Victoria hate you yesterday?"
Matthias’ eyes immediately narrowed at his still innocent wife. "Yes, I know because she told me so openly. Even though she hates me, I like her more and more."
