Chapter 52: Stay Away From Me!
His breath was very short hearing his wife’s hurtful words suddenly even though yesterday they had intended to start their relationship from the beginning. What actually caused his wife to suddenly change her mind? Did he make his wife angry again? Was the cause now that his wife’s stepmother scolded her severely because their relationship was exposed?
Now Matthias wanted to throw his thoughts far away. He tried to think of a way to make his wife’s heart melt for him again. He sat on the sofa next to his wife, while touching her hand.
"Is it because your parents don’t approve of our relationship that you suddenly act like this?"
Victoria felt like she wanted to let out her tears again because her husband’s guess was right on target. Now she was more convinced that Fransisca’s previous words were true. Matthias had deliberately returned to this city after being assigned to work abroad for two years just to meet her again. However, because their relationship had improved again, now the problem was getting bigger.
She forced herself to put on an angry expression even though she didn’t want to curse her husband anymore. "No. I decided to keep my distance so that you wouldn’t be too overbearing towards me again. I didn’t want to marry you from the start."
"Then, what about yesterday’s date?"
"Of course I think of it as just my fault and I did lose my mind yesterday." In the end, she couldn’t hold back her tears that continued to flow heavily remembering the sweet moments they had all day yesterday.
"Victoria..." His right thumb wiped his wife’s wet eyelids. "Okay, I won’t stop you from hating me because I know you can’t possibly like me quickly just because I’ve been treating you sweetly lately. But, I can’t hate you."
"This is what makes me want to hate you even more. Even though I have insisted on keeping my distance from you. But you are still stubborn. Why do you... always let yourself be hurt by me?"
