Chapter 26: Unexpected Guest
Matthias was confused about Amber’s purpose in suddenly inviting Victoria even though they had just met yesterday. Was Amber’s purpose to apologize for the evil deeds that Anton had done to Victoria? For Matthias, Amber’s current actions were a little excessive even though it was just an apology. However, that didn’t mean he suspected his own best friend. Because he had trusted Amber since he lived in America.
"But why did you have to invite Victoria? Didn’t you just meet yesterday?"
"Just getting to know each other already makes me feel comfortable. Usually I’m not good at socializing with strangers. But seeing as Victoria’s personality is very good, I want to get to know her better."
"If you really want to be good friends with her, I won’t stop you. Besides, Victoria will definitely be happy to hear it too."
Amber walked around the CEO’s room gracefully while staring at the desk neatly arranged with documents. Actually, she was very jealous imagining the moment the couple was making out in this spacious room. If she had been Matthias’ girlfriend from the start, she would not have gone this far.
However, her eyes fell on a jewelry box placed on the desk. She wanted to take the box but had no right to because she was not Matthias’s lover.
"By the way, I would like some coffee. Can you call your secretary to make me some coffee?"
"Okay, I’ll call him first."
When Matthias left the room, Amber immediately carried out her secret mission. She opened the jewelry box which contained a scarlet heart necklace. She even went berserk when she stared at the necklace while taking pictures of it using her cellphone.
"Sometimes Matthias needs to be taught a lesson after he betrayed me secretly. How dare he want to give this necklace to Victoria!"
Amber immediately put the box back in its original place when Matthias re-entered the room. She walked slowly around the sofa while staring at the various award certificates displayed on the display shelf.
