Chapter 267: Scared Or Nervous?
The day before the family dinner at the Phillips family’s home.
In the early morning, Abigail lay lazily in bed while talking to her grandma on the phone. She wanted to check on her grandma’s condition because she was concerned that the family dinner might stress her out.
"I’m fine, Abby..." Sophie’s reassuring words did little to ease Abigail’s concern; she remained worried. With no reply from her granddaughter, Sophie continued, "Oh dear, if you’re anxious about me, why not stay overnight here?"
Abigail’s expression stiffened when she heard her grandma’s offer. She began to feel suspicious of herself; she was the one who was scared and nervous about tomorrow’s party, not her grandma.
"Honey, come on. You can ask Sawyer to stay over here." Sophie’s voice snapped Abigail out of her thoughts.
Before Abigail could respond, James’s voice came from the other end. "Abigail, I’m sorry to interrupt, but I need to know when you and Sawyer will be coming tomorrow."
Abigail was taken aback. She didn’t know when they would leave. Sawyer had arranged it and didn’t tell her anything about it.
"I’m not sure, Grandpa. But we’ll probably leave an hour before dinner," she responded.
A soft sigh came from the other end of the line before James Phillips said, "Abby, you are my family, not a guest. I hope you can come early. Your grandma misses you and wants to see you..." The sadness in James’s voice surprised Abigail slightly.
