Chapter 189: Wedding Plans
James Philips’s expression remains unchanged; he feels confused and sorry to hear that Abigail will not have a grand wedding.
Seeing James’s skeptical stare, Sawyer continues to explain, "Grandpa Philips, we have planned our wedding ceremony, but we might not have a big party like others do. We just don’t like grand wedding celebrations like some other couples out there..."
This is James’s first time hearing of a young couple sharing a mindset like Sawyer’s. He recalls that his granddaughter Serena planned an extravagant wedding, inviting many influential figures from another country.
James shifts his gaze from Sawyer to Abigail, wanting to hear her opinion. Indeed, a girl like her wouldn’t dislike a grand wedding, right?
"What about you, Abigail?" he asks gently.
Abigail is taken aback by James Philips’s curious gaze. Still, she nods lightly before answering, "Grandpa Philips, I feel the same as Sawyer. I also don’t like grand weddings." She speaks honestly.
In fact, Abigail is the one who suggested to Sawyer that they skip a lavish reception. With only a few family members and friends, she believes a simple dinner with their loved ones is enough.
Luckily, Sawyer had the same thoughts as her; he also prefers not to have a grand wedding, as his birth mother would never stand by him if they were to have one. Sawyer has no intention of allowing his fake mother, Charlotte Morgan, to overshadow the memory of his birth mother on such a momentous occasion.
James Philips remains silent, but in his mind, he begins to make a plan to ensure he will present and become a witness at their wedding. Although his status as Abigail’s grandfather is not yet confirmed, he feels it is essential that this girl doesn’t get married without her family present.
