Chapter 156: Misery!
A look of worry crossed Sophie’s face as she asked, "Sawyer Jones?" She wanted to confirm she had heard it correctly.
"Yes, Grandma," Abigail answered with a smile, not noticing her grandmother’s nervous expression.
"Which Jones family?" Sophie’s voice had lost its previous cheerfulness and now sounded tense. She turned to Sawyer and continued, "Is your family the Jones family from the capital?"
Sawyer was taken aback by Sophie’s sharp gaze and could clearly see how nervous she was. He nodded.
"Yes, Grandma," Sawyer answered calmly, even though he felt a chill run through him as he guessed what was on her mind.
Sophie was at a loss for words. However, knowing this young man was related to the Jones family tightened her heart. She needed to clarify something with Sawyer before his relationship with her granddaughter turned sour.
However,
Before Sophie could speak, Abigail asked, "Grandma, do you know the Jones family from the capital?" She was excited to learn more about her grandmother’s background.
Abigail was waiting to hear about her Grandma’s history because she was utterly clueless about it. Until today, she had never even known who her grandfather was or which Lewis family her Grandma came from.
Sophie turned to see her granddaughter, her eyes radiant with worry, when she noticed how happy Abigail was now. It broke her heart as she could sense the troubled path that Abigail and Sawyer’s relationship was heading toward—misery.
Once again, Abigail somehow overlooked her grandmother’s concern and fear.
