Chapter 76: I Will Tell Grandpa About Us
"Sawyer, your grandpa is in the hospital; shouldn’t we hurry back to the city?"
Abigail looked him in the eyes, but when she felt the warmth of his hand, she blushed. She quickly tried to pull her hand away, but his grip was too firm for her to escape.
Sawyer didn’t rush to respond; instead, he gazed at her soft, delicate hand in his palm. He squeezed it gently enough to make his blood boil.
After sensing that she no longer resisted his grip, he turned to meet her shy gaze.
"There’s no need to worry about that cunning old man. I know he is healthy enough to run 10K in an hour. He just wanted to lure me back home. That’s why he had someone publish those ridiculous articles online."
Sawyer smiled as he noticed her beautiful eyes widen in shock.
"My grandpa might be at home right now. Usually, he played chess with his butler at this hour and couldn’t care less about anything else."
Abigail was speechless, unsure whether to laugh or feel sorry in response to his amusing words.
"Please sit down again, Abby..." Sawyer finally released her hand, but his eyes remained fixed on her.
"How do you know the article was fake right away!? Have you checked?" Abigail asked. She remembers his grandma calling him.
It was hard for Abigail to believe because the news online seemed so convincing. If it was just fake news, why let it circulate? Why wasn’t his family worried about the company’s stock dropping because of the negative news?
