Chapter 54: Almost Kissing
A few hours later, the car finally stopped.
Abigail faintly heard Sawyer’s voice calling her name repeatedly. When she opened her eyes, she was surprised to find him leaning so close to her face, almost as if he were about to kiss her. At least, that was what her mind thought.
Blinking several times, she responded softly, "Hmmm..." feeling her face warm.
"Ah, you finally awake, Abby. Are you fully awake now?" Sawyer said with a light smile, pulling his head away from her. "If you are, we need to get out now. The sun has already set, and I need to turn on the electricity and light the wood stove to warm up the cabin."
Abigail was stunned by his words. She hadn’t expected to fall asleep for almost two hours during the trip. Quickly glancing outside, she realized Sawyer was right—it was dark. She couldn’t see much around her.
With the car lights still on, she noticed a modern log cabin in front of them. The cabin was two stories high and had large glass windows. She also spotted a few smaller cabins nearby that weren’t part of the main structure.
Abigail took her backpack off and followed Sawyer to the cabin.
The light was already on before she reached the cabin door. As she was about to enter, she bumped into Sawyer, who was walking toward the door.
"I’m Sorry, Abby. The cabin is still cold." he paused, noticing she only wore a black, short-sleeved shirt.
