As Abigail walked toward the lobby, she was surprised to hear Ryland say, "Thank you, Abigail, for your help."
She didn’t want to respond, but this shameless man would bother her all the way to the main entrance.
Without looking at him, she replied lazily, "There’s no need to thank me. I’m here for the fee for my design, not to help your company." She quickened her pace and turned into the women’s restroom to avoid him.
A relieved smile spread across Ryland’s lips as Abigail disappeared from his view.
He walked toward the lobby and muttered, "I’m sorry, Abigail. I’m lying to you. I never paid a medical fee for your grandma."
Ryland felt he had no choice but to deceive her to achieve his goal. He couldn’t risk the company he built while still in college by starting over if this project failed.
They needed exposure to promote their business. If the public learned that Mr. Andy Bennet, the CEO of Silverstone Group, was using their company to build his summer cabin, other wealthy people in the country would likely hire them for their property developments.
He could picture the future of this collaboration: a substantial income and the exposure necessary to elevate Urbangrid Innovation in the industry.
As Ryland was about to leave the lobby, his cell phone suddenly rang. A smile spread across his face when he saw who was calling.
He quickly walked to the seating area and settled onto the sofa before answering the call.
