Chapter 37: Revenge Plot!
"Girl, you can tell me. I’m here to listen, not judge you," Lana said when she noticed Abigail hesitating.
Abigail smiled ruefully before responding, "Lana, are you sure you want to hear my story? It might trigger your anger, and I wouldn’t blame you if you wanted to throw something to let it out..."
"Is it really that bad?" Lana asked, shocked by Abigail’s warning.
"Mmm, that’s why I’m warning you. If you can handle it, I’ll tell you what happened to me." Her breakup with Ryland was overwhelming.
Abigail still vividly remembered almost falling from a fifteen-story building because of her mistakes. She felt fortunate to have met Sawyer that day; if she hadn’t, she might not be having this conversation now.
Lana’s curiosity grew upon hearing Abigail’s warning. "Yes, please, do tell..." she softly urged, thrilled to learn what had happened.
Why did this innocent and kind Abigail look so different from what Lana had seen in the past few days? Abigail appeared happy and thoughtful; her eyes showed no trace of heartbreak. But now, her eyes carried sadness and wrath.
As Abigail’s hands clenched tightly, she began to speak. "Do you remember the first time I came to this café?"
"Yes, of course I remember. You showed up with a big suitcase. I recall that you looked fearful and suddenly had to leave town."
