Chapter 240: The Day Was Cursed
Micah stood frozen, rooted to the ground, with three Du Ponts standing in front of him. He blinked hard, heart thudding. He felt like he was dreaming.
Emile, his posh, idol-like roommate for over a month...was a Du Pont. And his cousin, Dean Du Pont? He was the one Micah had bumped into on orientation day.
And Big sister, whom he had met at the Fan club gathering while disguised as Asena, was a Du Pont too.
He stared at them, his mouth slightly parted. The world around him had turned oddly quiet, muffled, and blurred.
He raised his hand and pinched himself hard.
"Ouch!" he muttered under his breath. His skin stung, the pinch hard enough to make his eyes teary.
Nope. It wasn’t a dream.
"Hey, are you alright?" Jacklin asked, stepping forward slightly. "You look pale."
Micah swallowed hard, quickly ducking his head. He needed to escape. To hide. Leave the garden. The longer he stood there, the higher the chance that Jacklin might notice something. Some flicker of recognition. Some resemblance to Asena.
He had only met Jacklin twice. Thank god it hadn’t been more.
"Is it your stomach again?" Emile asked suddenly, his earlier anger replaced by concern now. "Did you drink again? I heard from Nick and Eddie that you snuck some last time. Didn’t Darcy give you an earful?" Emile paused, his tone grew in disbelief. "Where is he? Huh? Don’t tell me you didn’t even invite him?"
Micah stiffened. His expression turned more awful. He had forgotten just how much Emile knew.
