Chapter 202: Spy Kids: Du Pont Edition
At the Du Pont mansion, Jacklin paced restlessly across the wide living room. Her arms were crossed tightly over her chest, and her heels clicked sharply against the polished floor. She turned one way, then the other, circling back towards the windows, only to spin around again in frustration.
She bit her thumbnail, checking her phone for the tenth time in two minutes, groaned, and shoved it back into her pocket.
Then the front door creaked open.
Jacklin’s head snapped toward it, eyes brightening. "Dean!" she called out as he stepped inside. She rushed toward him.
Dean barely had time to shut the door behind him before she was in front of him, grabbing his arm.
"Good, you’re here!"
Dean put his suitcase aside and turned to her. "What is it?" he asked, actually a bit scared by Jacklin’s behaviour.
"I’m going to die from curiosity! Do you know where little uncle is?"
Dean blinked, still trying to take off his shoes. "What do you mean? He should be here," he said, confused.
"No, he hasn’t come back here for a week," Jacklin said quickly. "I was hoping you knew something. Even this I had to coax the nanny to get that out of her."
Dean straightened up, expression natural. "So? Maybe he was on a business trip or something. I don’t get it. Why are you making a fuss about it?"
