Chapter 145: Mine To Keep
When Friday evening came, Micah was practically bouncing on his feet. He stuffed his tablet, sketches and notebooks into his backpack, zipped it shut and jogged toward the front gates of campus like he was being chased by demons. In a way, he was. The kind that wore smug grins, whispered rumours behind his back and stared way too hard during lunchtime. He couldn’t wait to leave the campus and escape the misery of the past few days. At least the worst of it had cooled down by now. Darcy’s quiet presence and a few pointed glares from their group had helped keep the girls at bay. It was still awkward, and girls still looked at him with strange eyes.
Hopefully, by Monday, that stupid campus forum post would be forgotten. Or buried under some other drama.
Micah glanced around and found Driver Dan had parked a few feet away.
He yanked the car door open and slumped into the backseat with a loud sigh, tossing his backpack beside himself.
"Good evening, Young master," Driver Dan said politely.
Micah nodded and turned his gaze toward the window.
He had planned to give Darcy a ride home, but apparently, someone in their project group had messed up. Now Darcy had to stay behind to fix it.
He couldn’t wait for him, even if he wanted to.
"Where to go young master?" Driver Dan asked. Ever since Micah had snapped at him earlier in the week, he had become more careful with his words.
"Go to the fitting appointment," Micah replied, fiddling with the hem of his shirt. He wasn’t as excited as before, but he had to go through it, or he would never hear the end of it from Elina’s complaining.
He sighed. His gaze stopped on his backpack. He had sent the finalized jewellery design to Uncle Graham’s store earlier in the week. He was anticipating Darcy’s expression upon seeing his gift. He wanted to let him know their fate was bound together like the twins sharing the same placenta. Their fates were tied from birth when they were swapped. He had combined the Tao symbol with the year of their Zodiac signs to create a pendant in the shape of two dragons tangled together, one black and one white using black rhodium and white gold.
