Chapter 119: That Would Be Fun to Watch
Clyde sat at the long dining table, his back straight, one hand loosely wrapped around a warm teacup. The soft aroma of Ceylon tea drifted up from the cup, but he barely noticed. His eyes were fixed on his phone screen. Nothing. No new message from Micah/Asena/RogueOverlord. The last message was from more than a week ago. The day he had figured out Micah’s identity and WeChat account. And what was about? Micah praised Aidan Wilson.
Clyde let out a slow breath, jaw tightening. He didn’t want to admit it, but the silence was starting to bother him. Maybe even more than he liked to admit. After Micah’s last message, Clyde had been annoyed, a bit angry even. So he hadn’t replied. Those emotions had been a surprise. It had been a long time since he had really felt anger, irritation, or disappointment... but that boy had managed to stir it all with a single text.
Clyde had tossed the phone aside at that time, not replying. But there was no news from Micah either after that.
What was Micah’s intention in sending tips and hints about business deals and stocks to Aidan Wilson? Was this a game? Was Micah trying to bait Aidain with his praise?
Was he trying to step into the business world using someone else as a tool? Or maybe trying to earn favour from someone like Aidan to climb higher?
But Clyde knew for a fact that Micah hadn’t even met the man before. Had no idea what Aidan looked like. So what was his goal? Just some blind power play?
It didn’t make sense.
And if he was trying to climb into the business world, then why was he studying fashion design of all things? Shouldn’t he be in a finance program? Or business management?!
Something with numbers, not fabrics.
Clyde swirled the tea in his teacup. He didn’t like having questions without answers. He especially didn’t like that the answers seemed to revolve around one boy, one silver-haired, freckles, nosy troublemaker who had taken up too much space in his head lately.
The obsession was stupid. He knew it. Still, that boy got under his skin like no one else.
