Chapter 258: Picked Up (2)
Arren didn’t know when; however, he was sure that in the midst of the horrible sensation that was beginning to engulf him were memories that suddenly surged like a flood about to drown him.
A terrible headache began to assault him again, much more painful than the side effects of the drug that made him fall unconscious. It was as though millions of needles were piercing his head and wanted to merge from within.
He shook his head as tears immediately sprung in his eyes. Arren also couldn’t breathe normally as he was choking from his fear.
At some point, the pain almost made him moan, but he gritted his teeth so no sound would come out of his mouth. Arren tried to endure, but it was so difficult for his current self, who was still weakened from a drug.
This pain... was too much. Arren was already silently sobbing and using his hand to pull his hair in some hope of at least alleviating the pain. Which was a strange way to do so.
These memories... It wanted to be acknowledged so much. Arren had discovered that his escapism personality was triggered again as he denied these memories to the best of his ability.
I don’t want these memories. Remembering them will only cause me pain. Please, I want to forget.
These thoughts began to emerge as he became miserable with pain. Deep inside of him, Arren really thought so. He didn’t want to remember. The thing about saying it wasn’t the right time was probably just an excuse to justify his denying his memories.
Who knew how many times he was in this kind of debate about himself? It was as if, every time a fight happened about himself, his denial of reality always won.
It was better this way. He was happy; why did he need to remember all these memories that would only make his life a living hell once more?
Arren might have used these excuses a lot of times. He couldn’t remember. And that was the point; he couldn’t remember because he didn’t want to, not because he couldn’t.
