Chapter 219: Missing (1)
Spade waited for Levin’s response to what he said, observing the alpha’s expression. Levin’s lips quivered; he averted his eyes and rubbed the corner of his eyes, and then gradually let out a heavy breath before returning his gaze to Spade.
Levin didn’t say anything, and the same was true for Spade. But their eyes alone carried all they wanted to say for each other, and it was more than enough.
A few minutes of silence passed by; the atmosphere between them might not have completely eased up, but a heavy stone was still lifted off their shoulders. Knowing that their best confidant would still be by their side was a good result of their conversation, despite the current situation not being resolved.
"About Aunt," Spade began again, about to inform Levin of what had been on his mind, making Levin freeze but listen to him. "I’ll do what Father wished; I’ll save her. But, that doesn’t mean she won’t be reliable for any punishments for what she did."
Spade had already thought of it; he admitted that when it came to his aunt, he was as weak as Levin. However, she wouldn’t be exempt just because of it. This route was harder; he also needed to look after his omega father.
He rubbed his temple, already throbbing because of these problems. Spade didn’t want to hide what he truly felt about this; as he said, he treated Levin as family, and this was a mess that they both needed to get through.
Levin weakly leaned on the seat and said, "I know, and I won’t object to it."
Observing his cousin, Spade chose to end this conversation for now.
"We can continue later. Levin, you need to sleep and rest."
The alpha was already exhausted, and they couldn’t possibly have a decent talk about what they needed to do. In his plans, the alpha had a massive role and was probably the hardest of all. It didn’t even have the scale of the mission itself, but that... He would be going against his parents, and that was something not many people could do.
Spade wanted Levin to be in the right state when they discussed their plans for the following days. He might not be at his best, but at least he could think with a clearer mind.
