Chapter 109: Heat (1)
Spade’s breathing became hurried; just from this tone alone, he already had a guess in mind without Arren directly revealing it. He immediately stood up from his seat. All the officials that were present, as they were in the middle of the meeting, immediately looked at him and noticed something from the emperor’s expression.
He didn’t mind them and responded to the phone, his nerves becoming tense as he did so.
"Wait for me. I’ll come immediately." His tone was hurried and almost stiff, as he was controlling his facial expressions in front of all his subjects. Otherwise, based on the ambiguous sounds that were coming from Arren, he had already left the conference room without looking back and would be in his room in no time.
Fortunately, he managed his alpha instincts, and he still held on. However, his whole being had also undergone a change, and those with keener eyes could immediately discern it; no one, however, dared to point it out.
It was as though, Spade couldn’t wait to leave this room and attend to his omega, which was about to go into heat. He still wore a calm expression despite the surging emotions inside him, maintaining the image of a dignified ruler.
After hanging up the phone and slightly gripping it with his hand, he turned his attention to the people present. He didn’t add anything to what he was saying earlier and immediately dismissed the meeting. Amidst the stunned expressions of everyone, Spade left without batting an eyelid.
Walking through the hallways, and increasing his pace. With Serrien, Levin, and some of his royal guards in tow, Spade silently strode his way through his room. Even his subordinates were confused by his behavior. It wasn’t his style to leave the meeting early. Or perhaps, there was some emergency?
Only after a few minutes did Spade recall something. Since he was in a hurry and the fact that Arren was about to go into heat was clouding his mind, his reason was also leaving him.
He stopped and glanced at Levin, "Tell the royal guards to leave their positions and that no one is allowed in the perimeter of my room or even deeper in the palace. Royal attendants are also not allowed to step inside." He heavily emphasized his order. Spade was sure that with their common sense, they would immediately know what the situation was without him directly saying it.
