Chapter 19: Flirt and Encounter (2)
They left the café immediately after Spade's commanding tone. Arren made no objections to this. The rain was still pouring heavily, so Spade used the umbrella to shield them from the rain, primarily for Arren, until they got into his car. It was only a few steps away.
Arren didn't pay attention to the details on the way to the car. They were in a hurry due to the rain, so he couldn't enjoy the feeling of having someone shield him from getting soaked.
He was in the shotgun seat before he knew it, and Spade was in the driver's seat, ready to go. Due to Arren's fever, Spade was in a hurry. Arren couldn't care less about his fever, but he was just following the alpha around and didn't have a choice.
They remain quiet inside the car. Spade was driving steadily but quickly. His attention was fixed on the road. Arren pursed his lips at this. He didn't like how the alpha was ignoring him.
"Which hotel would you take me to, Mister Investigator?" Arren asked innocently, a subtle play hidden within his tone. It was just a question, but it could have a different meaning in the other person's ears.
He smirked inside, how could anyone concentrate on driving when they had a beautiful passenger beside them? Arren was sure he could affect this alpha's self-control, but Spade was able to suppress it immediately. He needed to work harder in the future because he was such a difficult nut to crack.
The words had no effect on Spade, who continued to drive at his own pace, but one could see his amber eyes contract slightly.
"You'll know when we get there," Spade replied flatly. He already had a good understanding of the omega's personality; the more you responded to him, the more he took advantage of it by saying playful and teasing words.
It was preferable to end the conversation right away. It wasn't that Spade didn't enjoy talking with Arren, but the omega could be too much at times. His jokes may be insignificant to him, but they were a different story for Spade, who was completely captivated.
