Chapter 2: Broken Vow (2)
Arren walked painfully slowly, like a zombie. His legs began to shake with each step he took. Despite his hazy state, he managed to contact the driver and get into his position because he could collapse at any moment. His hands shook, and his body was excruciatingly hot. He thought he was starting to have hallucinations. He was aware that the smell of his heat would be revealed sooner or later. Fortunately, his position was hidden, and there were only a few people outside, most of whom were betas.
Arren stood there as inconspicuously as possible, his head lowered and his body slightly trembling. He bit his lower lip and force himself not to wallow even more in his pathetic state. Still, the hazy state and the pain he was experiencing were slowly eroding his rationality.
Ever since he was reborn, Arren never saw himself in a disadvantageous and difficult situation. His father adored and spoiled him, and he could do whatever he pleased. He had the status, the looks, and the superior gender that Arren had grown accustomed to being at the top of the food chain. That doesn't mean he wasn't cautious at all times; he was. There was something about him that, despite everything, kept him rational and grounded.
The reason? Simple. This was his second life. It wasn't the most shocking fact yet, this world was a novel. Yes, he had been living his life in a book world. What about his role? Well, He was just an extra, a nameless one without even a role. Not cannon fodder, a supporting character, or even a minor villain. In the original novel, he was merely a nameless character with no existence. At all.
Arren, on the other hand, never complained or harbored any resentment. Arren, to be honest, was relieved that he didn't have a part. It simply meant that he would be able to live his life freely and happily. The storyline? That didn't matter to him at all. He wouldn't get involved and be swept into the storm as long as he didn't interfere or get in the way of the main characters.
Arren recalled his previous life when he was eleven years old. He was initially perplexed and thought it was all a dream, but he soon accepted everything. This was his new life, and his circumstances were far better than they had been before. In his previous life, he had heart disease and was frequently hospitalized.
While he had some regrets about his previous life's parents, he eventually felt relieved for them. He had stolen their lives and time, and their debts had accumulated due to his hospital bills.
So he thought it was okay to leave them early so that his parents could move on and live their own lives, possibly with a new healthy baby. He already liked this world. In this world, he also had his loving father.
Until he saw the name of the current emperor, at which point he realized he was living in a novel he had previously read in the hospital when he was bored. It was an omegaverse novel. While it was a romance and drama novel, it wasn't a typical omegaverse novel either. It was about vengeance and conspiracy, with a dash of romance thrown in for good measure.
