Chapter 1618 - 1670: Children’s Playground
After taking a stroll and visiting the four children, Li Yifei made phone calls to the two women in the hospital, chatted a bit, and then hung up. He came to Chu Xiaoyao’s door and pushed it slightly; as expected, Chu Xiaoyao hadn’t closed it. Li Yifei shook his head and walked in, locking the door behind him.
Tonight, he was accompanying Chu Xiaoyao. Upon entering, Li Yifei saw Chu Xiaoyao wrapped in a towel, lying on the sofa, her fair legs resting on the coffee table. Seeing Li Yifei enter, she beckoned to him with her finger and said somewhat dreamily, "Darling, I’ve been waiting for you for ages."
She was afraid Li Yifei might not come, so she kept an eye out downstairs, ensuring she’d know immediately when he arrived.
Li Yifei walked over, opened his arms, and said, "Come, I’ll carry you upstairs."
"Alright," Chu Xiaoyao perked up, hooking her arms around Li Yifei’s neck. Li Yifei exerted a bit of strength and lifted Chu Xiaoyao up, striding upstairs.
Li Yifei placed Chu Xiaoyao on the bed and said, "I’m going to take a shower. I’ll be back soon; you should sleep first."
Chu Xiaoyao rolled over on the bed and shook her head vigorously, saying, "I won’t sleep; I’ll wait for you!"
Li Yifei knew Chu Xiaoyao would fight off her drowsiness to wait for him, so he quickly showered, dried off, and hurried back. Sure enough, the little girl was pouting and hadn’t slept, still waiting for Li Yifei.
Seeing Li Yifei come out wearing just underwear, Chu Xiaoyao grinned, shifted her body to make space for him, and lifted the quilt for him to climb in.
As soon as Li Yifei got into bed, Chu Xiaoyao entwined herself around him, putting a leg over Li Yifei, hugging his arm, and wriggling comfortably, saying, "So cool, really comfortable."
Li Yifei turned to embrace Chu Xiaoyao, placing his hand on her waist. Chu Xiaoyao grunted, grabbed Li Yifei’s hand to move it down, but Li Yifei used more force to stop her, saying, "Don’t mess around, sleep well, you’ve drunk so much, hurry and rest!"
"Oh." Chu Xiaoyao pouted, released Li Yifei’s hand, turned over to lie on top of him, blinking her big eyes and said, "Then, can I say goodnight to you?"
"Sure!"
Chu Xiaoyao’s little mouth landed on his, first on Li Yifei’s lips, then all the way down, across the firm chest, the undulating abdomen, reaching a certain spot when Li Yifei pulled her up from under the covers and flipped her over, pinning her beneath him.
Chu Xiaoyao exclaimed sweetly, raising her arms, her innocent big eyes looked at Li Yifei as she pitiably said, "Are you going to do something beastly to me?"
Li Yifei’s eyes reddened as he gazed at Chu Xiaoyao, breathing heavily through his nose. After nearly a minute, he exhaled and said, "I am worse than a beast."
After saying that, he released Chu Xiaoyao, lying down beside her, breathing heavily. The earlier emotion and desire prompted the worm affliction to act up, stirring an unexplainable anger in Li Yifei that he couldn’t vent.
"I’m sorry, hubby, I..."
"No worries, it’s my fault. Alright, let’s sleep. Tomorrow I promised to take the two kids out." Li Yifei said.
Chu Xiaoyao agreed, got up to turn off the lights, returned to lie beside Li Yifei, and in the darkness, she quietly leaned over, kissed his cheek, and didn’t pull away, keeping her lips pressed to his cheek and holding his big hand.
The night was quiet yet somewhat helpless; soon enough, Chu Xiaoyao slept soundly. The little girl had drunk quite a bit, and the alcohol had kicked in, making her quickly fall into a deep sleep. Li Yifei, however, was somewhat sleepless, staring at the ceiling. As long as the worm affliction remained unresolved, it was a knot in Li Yifei’s heart, also affecting the women of the family.
Li Yifei hoped that the method proposed by Yao Lingfu and Na Yi might offer temporary relief. Thinking about the search for the linguist, Li Yifei had sent out several groups, but seemed to have no clues at all. Just returning home, he wasn’t keen on going out again.
If the individual concealed themselves in the city, Li Yifei and others would be just another person searching; if in the deep mountains, Li Yifei might be able to find faster.
It was only past midnight when Li Yifei fell asleep, groggily he seemed to hear his eldest son’s cries, loud and powerful. Upon waking in the morning, Li Yifei didn’t move for a while, still without clues on his son, the kidnapper vanished without a trace, and there were no further clues. Both the Li and Su families had tried many ways to find him, but it yielded no results.
Currently, these two issues are the biggest troubles for the Li family, not fatal, but leaving a lingering sadness in everyone’s hearts.
Beside him, Chu Xiaoyao slept curled up, her brows slightly furrowed, with a hint of melancholy; yesterday’s events had hurt her considerably. Li Yifei felt a bit of heartache himself, turning to embrace her, gently rubbing his finger over her furrowed brow. The little girl mumbled, her eyes didn’t open, and she soon went back to sleep quietly.
Li Yifei cuddled Chu Xiaoyao until after nine o’clock, and the little girl finally woke up. Li Yifei had to get up because his two daughters had been awake for a long time, constantly asking when Ye Yunzhu’s daddy would wake up, from after six until now. Ye Yunzhu really had no choice but to call Li Yifei.
The phone call also woke Chu Xiaoyao. Hearing the two daughters’ words, Chu Xiaoyao got up first, pulled on Li Yifei, and said, "Honey, I want to play with the girls too. Let’s quickly get ready."
After they both finished showering and getting ready, Chu Xiaoyao casually tossed a pack of bread to Li Yifei. They ate while heading out, and from a distance, they could see the two daughters running towards them. Li Yifei stuffed the bread back into Chu Xiaoyao’s hand, squatted down, and opened his arms to scoop up the two daughters.
The two daughters were very considerate and didn’t ask Li Yifei why he got up so late. Instead, they helped him tidy his hair. Li Yufei said, "Dad, if you’re really tired, we can go play another day."
"Dad’s not tired, I just went to bed late last night," Li Yifei chuckled. After planting a kiss on each daughter’s cheek, he said, "Let’s go, where do you want to play? Dad will take you."
Li Yufei’s eyes twinkled as she said, "Let my sister say."
The second daughter then said, "Sis said the children’s amusement park is fun!"
Li Yifei and the nearby Chu Xiaoyao, along with Ye Yunzhu, couldn’t help but laugh. The older daughter wanted the younger daughter to speak, playing a little smart, but the younger daughter directly said it was her sister’s idea.
What little clever ones! Li Yifei laughed heartily and said, "Alright, let’s go to the amusement park. Come on, Dad and your mother Xiaoyao will take you to play."
Ye Yunzhu couldn’t come along because she had to work today. She was already late waiting for Li Yifei and Chu Xiaoyao to wake up. Fortunately, her current position is quite significant, so being late isn’t a big deal.
Li Yifei drove the family van, taking his two daughters and a wife who seemed like a daughter out the door, followed by two cars of security guards, totaling eight people, six men and two women. The Li family now pays close attention to security, especially with two children going out this time.
If there’s another accident involving the children, Li Yifei might go crazy.
The Li family’s security is now trained very well, working in groups of three to four. Typically, one person is good at counter-surveillance, counter-kidnapping, and shooting, although shooting is not common domestically, it’s essential. Some of Li family’s security personnel have legal licenses to carry firearms, though management is stricter, particularly on gun control. Another person is skilled at martial arts, able to handle several in close combat. If they collaborate, these three to four people can face off against a dozen or twenty individuals without hesitation, even coming out victorious.
The requirements for female security are somewhat special. Female guards may not be adept at combat and firearms but must excel in other areas such as languages, driving, public relations, business etiquette — all to protect the women of the Li family, fitting for close protection.
This is what Li Yifei values the most since male security sometimes may not be convenient for protection, whereas females can often be overlooked and be crucial in protecting at key moments.
Today, each female guard watches over one child, and the other six security guards are scattered.
With Li Yifei around, theoretically, the security could be relaxed a bit, not so tense. But these guards still perform rigorously; after all, having Li Yifei means they need to work even harder.
Though today isn’t the weekend, there are still many people in the amusement park. By the time Li Yifei arrives with the girls, there are already dozens of children in the park. Luckily, this amusement park is enormous, not only can children play, but adults can too, featuring a small zoo and lots of amusement facilities. It’s considered a great place for fun and relaxation in Mile City.
Today’s sunshine is scarce, making the weather not too hot, perfect for playing.
Li Yifei bought tickets, held the second daughter, and took the older daughter by the hand as they walked in. Chu Xiaoyao carried a small bag on her shoulder with some snacks inside and went to buy water nearby.
The two daughters, especially the older daughter, Li Yufei, probably haven’t visited a place like this for years. Their eyes were full of delight. The younger daughter even less so. The younger daughter squirmed in Li Yifei’s arms, saying, "Dad, let me down quickly, I want to walk with sister."
"Alright!" Li Yifei bent down to set his daughter down. The little girl immediately grabbed her sister’s hand, giggling and running forward.
Chu Xiaoyao shouted from behind, "Slow down, don’t fall."
"I won’t, Mom Xiaoyao, I’m here," Li Yufei waved her hand without looking back.
The security guards automatically dispersed. Li Yifei quickened his pace to follow the daughters. Chu Xiaoyao also jogged to catch up, worried about the kids falling or bumping into others.
The entire way, the children’s laughter filled the air, with Chu Xiaoyao joining in on the fun.
