Chapter 1611 - 1663: Shameless Relatives
As soon as he picked up the phone, there was crying, and Li Yifei’s face immediately changed. Among the women in his family, he cared deeply for all of them, but especially for Chu Xiaoyao. Hearing her cry, Li Yifei directly asked coldly, "Xiaoyao, what’s wrong?"
The two women in the hospital room heard him and stopped to look over.
It was very noisy on Chu Xiaoyao’s end. Before she could answer, Li Yifei heard a woman’s voice scream, "You little bitch! You think you’re something just because you’ve found a good man? If you don’t pay up today, I’ll ruin your face!"
That one sentence was enough to ignite Li Yifei’s anger. Before he could respond, someone grabbed Chu Xiaoyao’s phone and smashed it on the ground, cutting off the call.
Xu Shanshan, who also heard what was said on the phone thanks to her sharp ears, immediately stood up and asked, "What happened to Xiaoyao? Who was that on the phone?"
"Her aunt. I’ll handle it. I’ll tell you later!" Li Yifei replied with a cold face, nodded at the two women, and walked out.
Lin Qiong pointed at Xu Shanshan and shouted, "Shanshan, you go too. I’m fine on my own."
"No need." Li Yifei replied as he dashed out. He was already tens of meters away, quickly reaching downstairs, getting into the car, and driving off within seconds.
Li Yifei wasn’t sure what was happening on Chu Xiaoyao’s side, but that threat to ruin her face was enough to make him furious. As the car sped off, Li Yifei called the head of the security team at home, relayed a location, and told them to send a team immediately.
In less than ten minutes, Li Yifei arrived at the building where Chu Xiaoyao’s aunt lived. He saw Chu Xiaoyao’s car, leapt out of his own, and unleashed his presence to locate her. In a few seconds, he ascended to the fifth floor.
Chu Xiaoyao’s aunt, Wang Jing, was still berating her.
Chu Xiaoyao stood with a fruit knife in her hand, back against the wall corner, waving the knife to keep them at bay. There were five people in the room: Wang Jing, her husband, that brother, and a man and a woman, all standing around, surrounding Chu Xiaoyao.
If Chu Xiaoyao hadn’t learned a few self-defense techniques, and grabbed a fruit knife in the chaos earlier, injuring that brother, she would’ve been subdued by now.
At this moment, Chu Xiaoyao’s face was icy, glaring warily at the five people in front of her. Zhang Tao, whom she had injured, looked vicious, clutching his wound and glaring angrily at Chu Xiaoyao, cursing, "****, you dare stab me? If you don’t fork out five hundred thousand today, I swear I’ll destroy your face. See how you cling to rich men after that!"
This threat, much like Wang Jing’s previous threat, showed that these five people were all threatening Chu Xiaoyao. If she didn’t give them the money, she wouldn’t leave this room today.
But why did things turn out this way? Wasn’t it because Wang Jing’s husband had a terminal illness, urgently needing money for treatment, otherwise his life would be in danger? How did it come to this aggression against Chu Xiaoyao instead?
This story starts when Chu Xiaoyao knocked on Wang Jing’s door. The group at home heard the knocking and opened the door, surprised to see Chu Xiaoyao standing outside. They were particularly shocked, as they had just been insulting her, calling her ungrateful, inhuman, saying she was so full of herself she forgot her family, with all sorts of vile words. And then Chu Xiaoyao showed up herself.
A bit surprised, Wang Jing let Chu Xiaoyao in.
At first, everything seemed fine. Wang Jing introduced her family to Chu Xiaoyao: the uncle, Zhang Tao, and Zhang Tao’s girlfriend, plus another man who was Zhang Tao’s good friend, visiting today. This man couldn’t stop staring at Chu Xiaoyao since she entered, looking at her legs, feet, then face, making her uncomfortable. But since he was Zhang Tao’s friend, she said nothing, merely crossing her legs and placing a cushion over them.
As for Chu Xiaoyao’s uncle, he looked healthy, with rosy cheeks and bright eyes, neither fat nor thin, showing no sign of illness. This made Chu Xiaoyao silently skeptical.
Initially, Wang Jing was very warm. Though she had foul-mouthed over the phone, but now having Chu Xiaoyao at her home, she saw an opportunity, so she served sunflower seeds, candies, and various fruits, insistently offering them to Chu Xiaoyao. When she didn’t take them, Wang Jing peeled a banana and handed it over.
Unable to refuse, Chu Xiaoyao ate a few bites, then sensed a lecherous gaze from Zhang Tao’s friend, who even gulped.
Chu Xiaoyao glared at him, but instead of restraining himself, he became even more brazen, even making a lewd gesture.
Since there were guests at home, a lot of food was purchased. Just as Chu Xiaoyao arrived, Wang Jing was preparing to cook, meanwhile inviting Zhang Tao’s girlfriend to take care of Chu Xiaoyao. She was already there, so Wang Jing was in no hurry to make that request. It would be easier to bring it up after a meal and some drinks.
Chu Xiaoyao didn’t plan on eating. She came to take a look and would leave if there was nothing going on. She especially disliked Zhang Tao’s friend and his girlfriend. Before commenting on their looks, Chu Xiaoyao didn’t like her vibe. With her almond-shaped eyes, heavy makeup, and a half-exposed belly, she resembled a woman of the streets.
Of course, what she wears is her freedom, but ever since Chu Xiaoyao entered the room, this woman’s eyes were fixated on her bag, car keys, phone, and even her clothes. Occasionally, she showed a look of envy. After sitting next to Chu Xiaoyao, she directly picked up Chu Xiaoyao’s bag and started examining it, noticing the LV logo. The woman then started critiquing it as if she was an expert and asked about its price.
This bag wasn’t bought by Chu Xiaoyao; it was a gift from her sisters. She had several similar ones, each costing in the five- to six-digit range. Unable to withstand the questioning, Chu Xiaoyao reluctantly said it was probably tens of thousands. The woman exclaimed with envy in her eyes, and without asking Chu Xiaoyao, she took the bag and sat next to Zhang Tao, holding it up, and said, "Zhang Tao, I want this bag too. You have to buy it for me!"
Zhang Tao glanced at Chu Xiaoyao and said, "I’ll buy it for you!"
Zhang Tao’s girlfriend smiled happily and said, "That’s more like it. You promised, I’ll remember that!"
Zhang Tao said, "No problem."
The two echoed each other, and Zhang Tao’s girlfriend started rummaging through Chu Xiaoyao’s bag without asking for her consent. When Chu Xiaoyao wanted to stop her, it was already too late. The woman had opened it and her eyes widened, taking out an item from the bag and exclaiming, "Oh my, you have this limited-edition lipstick too. I’ve been eyeing it for a long time, it costs over nine thousand..."
At this point, Zhang Tao’s girlfriend eagerly opened the lipstick cover, and without asking Chu Xiaoyao, started applying it to her lips.
Chu Xiaoyao frowned but said nothing. She had expected to encounter this kind of ridiculous family, so she watched coldly as the woman applied her lipstick.
Zhang Tao didn’t stop his girlfriend. After applying the lipstick, she puckered her lips and said to him, "Husband, do I look pretty after applying it? I love this lipstick, and look at this casing, it’s so beautiful, what a great shape!"
Zhang Tao nodded repeatedly, took it and examined it, and asked, "You like it?"
"Of course I do, I’ve been wanting it for so long, but with your salary, it would take months to afford it. If we bought it, how would we live?" Zhang Tao’s girlfriend rolled her eyes and disdainfully said.
Zhang Tao wasn’t angry, chuckling, he toyed with the lipstick in his hand, looked at Chu Xiaoyao, and said with a smile, "Young lady, since your sister-in-law loves this lipstick so much, why don’t you gift it to her as a greeting gift?"
What could Chu Xiaoyao say, feeling utterly disgusted and shameless? But since she had already used it, even if returned, Chu Xiaoyao would definitely throw it in the trash before leaving. If her sisters had used it, she wouldn’t mind, but who was this woman? She would never share a makeup product with her.
Chu Xiaoyao gave a noncommittal hum, which was considered an agreement. Zhang Tao tossed the lipstick to his girlfriend, saying, "See, my sister here is wealthy and generous, keep the lipstick."
Zhang Tao’s girlfriend took the lipstick, delighted, and said to Chu Xiaoyao, "Thanks, young lady. Sister-in-law won’t stand on ceremony. This is too expensive; sister-in-law can’t afford it herself. Thanks for your generosity today, young lady."
Zhang Tao’s girlfriend turned around and put the lipstick into her own bag, but she still didn’t return Chu Xiaoyao’s bag. Just a few seconds later, she pretended to admire the bag again, holding it up and looking at it closely, clicking her tongue in admiration. Clearly, she liked the bag even more.
Zhang Tao’s friend was still staring at Chu Xiaoyao, sneakily licking his lips. Zhang Tao’s girlfriend again tried to dig things out of Chu Xiaoyao’s bag, still commenting on how beautiful the bag was but too expensive. She said to Zhang Tao, "Zhang Tao, your sister has money to casually own a bag worth tens of thousands. Damn, sticking with you is such bad luck for me. Otherwise, with my looks and figure, I could definitely own such an expensive bag."
That statement was deeply offensive, insinuating that Chu Xiaoyao was being kept by someone. Given Chu Xiaoyao’s temperament, her expression immediately changed. She stood up, walked over, extended her hand, and said, "Please give me back my bag, I don’t like others touching my things."
The words weren’t exactly rude, and Zhang Tao’s girlfriend didn’t dare cross the line further. After all, she’d already gotten a nearly ten thousand yuan item from her. So she awkwardly smiled and returned the bag to Chu Xiaoyao.
