Chapter 1508 - 1560 Saving Wu Shuwei
Li Yifei had just poked his head out when the surviving kidnapper in the car fired two more shots, piercing the car’s body and adding plenty of bullet holes. Even the thickened steel body custom-made for the wealthy prince Sashar couldn’t hold up.
But the adversary fired only those two shots; the gunshots abruptly ceased. When Li Yifei stood up, he saw a massive wound on the neck of the shooter with an Arab scimitar stuck in the nearby car door.
The kidnapper’s neck was spewing blood and his eyes were wide with disbelief, seemingly unable to accept he was killed by the opponent.
This stretch of highway had few vehicles, but still, a car seemed to be stopping. Li Yifei pulled one kidnapper from the car and reached out to grab Wu Shuwei.
"It’s safe. Hurry out." Li Yifei grabbed Wu Shuwei by the arm to pull her out but found no reaction. He bent low into the car and began inspecting.
Li Yifei was worried, fearing he might have accidentally shot Wu Shuwei, or perhaps she was killed by the previous kidnapper. Her body was pressed against the kidnapper’s, and being hit at close range by a shotgun, even a miracle wouldn’t save her.
Dragging Wu Shuwei out, Li Yifei glanced at her and breathed a sigh of relief. Wu Shuwei’s face had a lot of blood, but it was from hitting her forehead, not serious. She was now unconscious, possibly due to fear or from the impact.
It’s good she’s not dead. Li Yifei cradled Wu Shuwei in his arms, opened the rear car door of his Mercedes, and was just about to place her inside when he suddenly sensed danger, shivers running down his spine. He lunged forward, curling up in mid-air to avoid hitting Wu Shuwei, pushing her to the ground.
Sure enough, a gunshot rang out, shattering the car window with a crash.
It was the kidnapper in the front passenger seat, who was merely stunned before. He was shot in the arm, which absorbed the impact, allowing him to survive. Li Yifei hadn’t checked thoroughly earlier; seeing him motionless, he assumed he was dead.
Seizing the chance when Li Yifei’s back was turned, the kidnapper fired a shot.
Luckily, Li Yifei was vigilant enough to dodge this bullet.
Rolling on the ground, Li Yifei swiftly stood up, agilely maneuvering to the other side of the car, smashing the window with his elbow, his hand grabbing the opponent’s neck.
The ambushing kidnapper’s gaze was still on the other side; hearing the window shatter, it was too late to turn around. As he turned to see Li Yifei, his face didn’t have time to register shock before Li Yifei snapped his neck.
Li Yifei had no reason to show mercy to these terrorists, especially since they fired covert shots intending to kill him.
Snatching the gun from the assailant’s hand, Li Yifei tucked it in his waistband. Several cars had already stopped in the distance, observing the situation, and Li Yifei guessed someone might have reported to the police, so he needed to leave quickly.
Sitting in the car, Li Yifei quickly started the engine, flooring the accelerator and speeding off.
After driving for a minute or two, Li Yifei suddenly jerked the steering wheel, crashing the car into the guardrail, breaking it, and veering off the road onto semi-deserted land, escaping the highway.
After all, there had been killings and a fierce gunfight; Dubai police couldn’t ignore it.
Li Yifei overestimated the Dubai police’s response time; over half an hour later, several police cars finally arrived at the highway. The officers were shocked by the scene, but after inspecting the deceased, they weren’t as tense.
The dead were from the Anchor group, thus the situation required a different perspective.
The Dubai police were pleased these people were wiped out, so they sent two cars to trace forward, leaving a few officers behind to investigate and report.
Remembering the license plate of the car Li Yifei drove, they reported to the police, who quickly identified it as Sashar’s car, a royal license plate, and informed Sashar.
At this moment, Sashar was already home, having had plenty to drink on the plane and in the car. He was half-inebriated, indulging in services from two beautiful women he brought back. One knelt before him, exhaling clouds, while the other was unclothed, ready for a big moment.
Receiving the call, Sashar lazily opened his eyes, then laughed heartily a few seconds later, saying, "How could they be my people? Oh, you’re asking about the car? It was stolen right after leaving the airport; I don’t know who took it. Oh, if you see my car, please help me get it back. I’d appreciate it."
After hanging up, Sashar patted the woman kneeling and exhaling before him, signaling her to release him. Shuffling naked around the room, Sashar muttered to himself, "Indeed an interesting person, one against four, and still managed to rescue someone. Not bad, not bad!"
After speaking, he picked up a phone on the table, dialed a number, and said, "That Huaxia person killed a few people and has now escaped. Keep an eye out for any news about him. If he’s taken by the police, let me know. If you find him first, bring him to me."
Sashar enjoyed playing with hawks and raising various fierce animals. Similarly, he liked to collect formidable individuals. Although he didn’t know how Li Yifei managed to face four opponents and kill them all before rescuing a person and fleeing, it made him a formidable person. Sashar’s interest in Li Yifei grew even stronger.
Having made the arrangements, Sashar beckoned to the woman still kneeling on the ground, like a beautiful cat, and said, "Come over, continue."
The cat woman sensuously crawled over on all fours from the ground, opened her rosy little mouth, and continued with the task that was interrupted earlier.
Not to mention Sashar, Li Yifei had already been speeding away for more than an hour, thanks to the exceptional off-road performance of his Mercedes, he hadn’t gotten stuck in a sand pit.
Li Yifei also had rich experience driving in desert areas, so he avoided several dangerous situations.
As the time approached dusk, Li Yifei stopped the car on the back side of a sand dune.
This place wasn’t safe either; if someone wanted to chase him, they could easily follow his tracks. So, he only stopped briefly.
Stepping out of the car, he unbuckled his belt, relieved himself, and when he turned back, he saw a small head peeking from the car window. It was Wu Shuwei, who was holding her forehead with one hand, looking at Li Yifei with a dazed expression.
Li Yifei turned around, fastened his pants, raised an eyebrow, walked over, and suddenly tapped on the car window, startling Wu Shuwei to instinctively retreat backward, only to fall because she found nothing behind her.
Li Yifei laughed heartily and opened the car door.
"Who... who are you exactly?" Wu Shuwei struggled to prop herself up, looking at Li Yifei with some caution. As she regained consciousness, Wu Shuwei recalled what had happened before and began to doubt Li Yifei’s identity. Even with her extensive experience, she found the current situation difficult to accept.
First there was despair, then hope as she saw Li Yifei catching up, to the disappointment and helplessness when he was about to leave, and finally, Li Yifei suddenly burst forth, opened fire, and the massive gunfire and impact made Wu Shuwei lose consciousness. She didn’t know what happened afterward.
Upon seeing Li Yifei again, Wu Shuwei felt an unreal sensation. Was this still the Li Yifei who remained silent in the face of the Japanese ruffians?
Moreover, could a retired soldier be this formidable? Wu Shuwei’s body trembled slightly as she watched Li Yifei, who had opened the car door and was leaning in.
Li Yifei cracked a grin, showing his white teeth, and said, "I saved you. Shouldn’t you be saying thank you now?"
"Than..." Wu Shuwei blurted out but then retreated, asking in a panic, "First tell me who you are and what you intend to do with me."
"Indeed, all bust and no brains." Li Yifei rolled his eyes, glanced at Wu Shuwei’s chest. He had to admit, he hadn’t paid much attention on the plane, but seeing now, it was quite significant. Li Yifei continued, "I’m just an ordinary retired soldier. Initially, I was supposed to follow a wealthy prince to his home to experience the life of a tycoon, but then I turned around and saw you being kidnapped, so I impulsively borrowed his car and chased after you."
"You know the rest yourself, so don’t ask me anymore. Now I just want a thank you from you. Will you say it or not?"
"Huh?" Wu Shuwei was a bit embarrassed after hearing this, she pursed her lips and quickly said, "Thank you. Sorry, I’m not doubting you, it’s just... with no reason, you saved me, and I find it hard to believe."
Li Yifei shrugged, backed out of the car, and said, "You’ve already said there’s no reason, so I acted impulsively. Seeing a fellow citizen being kidnapped, imagining you might be violated and killed by these terrorists, with a bunch of men pressing down on you, it didn’t sit well, so I saved you."
With a few words, Wu Shuwei’s face turned pale. She shook her head vigorously to shake off images more terrifying than the kidnapping, saying, "Thank you, it was my fault. I shouldn’t have doubted you, it’s just that it felt unreal. I thought I might be kidnapped by them, never imagining that a... a hero would appear and save me."
"Alright, save those words for later. Let’s get you bandaged up first; we still have to run after this. There’s nowhere to hide in this desert, and both the police and kidnappers can easily find us." Li Yifei waved a hand and said.
Wu Shuwei quickly nodded and said, "I’m fine, just a headache."
Li Yifei took off his jacket, removed the white T-shirt he was wearing underneath, and with a bit of force, tore off a strip of fabric. Wu Shuwei had already moved to the car door, letting Li Yifei bandage her while gazing at his muscles with her big eyes.
Meanwhile, her imagination ran wild, mainly because Li Yifei’s muscles were extraordinarily impressive, and they were covered in scars, which made her stare in awe, her mind wondering about the kind of person Li Yifei really was.
