Chapter 1338 - 1388: Special Forces Assault
"Boom!"
A rocket-propelled grenade streaked through the air, flames trailing behind it, and slammed directly into the tent. The distance was so close that no one could see what was happening before the tent was obliterated into pieces. Hidden among the bamboo grove, over twenty men charged towards the former position of the tent. It was clear from their numbers—this was an entire platoon.
The tent was simplistic. The rocket’s explosion not only shredded it but also incinerated the fabric in an instant. Yet, curiously, the ground revealed no corpses or remnants of flesh. This discovery caused the advancing men to tense up immediately.
"Platoon leader, the targets are gone," one man exclaimed, his voice tinged with surprise.
Another man quickly snapped, "Search! Form teams, they must be nearby. Under no circumstances can we let these terrorists escape alive." This person was undoubtedly the platoon leader.
The men immediately fanned out in groups of five, their steps measured and their methods orderly, further demonstrating that this was an exceptionally well-trained unit.
The platoon leader, accompanied by several others, advanced into the bamboo grove for the search. But after progressing hundreds of meters, the men behind him abruptly collapsed to the ground one by one. Shocked, he instinctively reached for his signal device, but before he could act, the cold barrel of a gun pressed against his forehead, rendering him motionless.
"Which unit are you with?" Li Yifei asked, emerging from the shadows.
Since his unexpected attack in Miaojiang, Li Yifei had remained vigilant, knowing that nothing about this mission would be simple. Even in his sleep, he maintained a heightened sense of awareness. As this group of intruders approached, he had already sensed their presence and had swiftly taken the still-sleeping Na Yi out of the tent, retreating into the bamboo grove.
If these men weren’t soldiers, Li Yifei would have neutralized them all without hesitation. Yet hearing their exchanges made it evident they belonged to a formal unit, which prompted him to restrain himself. He needed to understand why they had targeted him.
