"Wait," Nicklaus called Arissa to a halt when they climbed out of the car and she was about to walk in.
Arissa faced Nicklaus. Her eyes calm and questioning, she walked towards him. At first, she planned to rush in, still embarrassed about what happened between them in the car but now, her embarrassment has long disappeared. The longing in his voice had sent them all away.
When she faced him, Nicklaus opened the car door leading to the back seats. Under Arissa’s watch, he brought out a wrapped bunch of red roses from the car.
Arissa turned numb and her heart drooped into her stomach when he walked towards her with the roses. She blinked rapidly to make sure she wasn’t dreaming. She even went as far as pinching herself secretly at the side and when she felt pain, strength left her and she felt like fainting.
She would never have guessed he had roses in his car all this while. Well, how would she have known when she had been so lost in thoughts?
She was speechless and numb. Everything looked so unreal and her husband was walking towards her with flowers in his hand. In the past, she has received a couple of rose flowers from a handful of the opposite gender even when she rejected them, and to be honest, none of those roses received from them made her feel this way.
She felt gladened from her heart and her whole expression showed that happiness. She tried not to smile and forced her tears not to spill.
