His Toxic Addiction

Chapter 236: Just A Friend.

Both men walked side by side, respectfully giving the next person his space. There was also a tight unfriendly silence between them.

The unfriendly air came directly from Nicklaus. He doesn’t want to have anything that wasn’t work-related to talk to this doctor with anymore.

He realized he have to indulge and protect Arissa from all angles if he doesn’t want to be emotionally destroyed again for the second time by a woman.

Although, Arissa hasn’t left him. She hasn’t spoken about leaving for a while now yet that wasn’t enough to give Nicklaus the assurance he wants.

There was a searing pain deep down in his chest right now meanwhile, on the outside he looked unaffected by Collins’s presence. He saw how Arissa cares about the doctor which counts as more than enough for a reason why he should be scared.

A woman’s heart should never be tagged as stable. Their heart blinks and changes without a reason. His mother was a solid example of that.

Nicklaus’s mind went back to the memory of the first time they met. Her brown eyes, which were still the most beautiful part of her body to him were what captured him on that day before any other thing about her.

He was taken aback when she bravely and unapologetically took a glass out of his drink. He was mad then, and about to lash out but when she choked on the drink, he froze at her cuteness and that was also the first time he forgot how to breathe. Her unperformed cuteness was like a small blinking light drooping amidst his dark world.

He figured out her innocence right at that spot and when he decided to help her out as she claimed he should, he wasn’t disappointed with her, and even though that night was torture to him, he had the best night ever. Thinking about it, he was glad she found her way to him that night, although she was trying to run from him.
