Chapter 9 — Princess Cynthia’s Palace
A large group of men on horseback arrived at the border of Eldoria, where a contingent of armoured soldiers stood guard, their swords ready for any threat.
"Where do you come from?" one of the knights on duty demanded, eyeing their distinctive attire.
"Selvarys," Lucian replied, presenting the seal that the king had entrusted to him. "The king of Selvarys instructed me to show this seal to the guards at the border."
"Very well. Open the gates."
Although the king had forewarned the knights about the arrival of the Selvarians, their appearance came sooner than expected. Only a month had passed since the announcement of the marriage between the two kingdoms, and many were still struggling to accept such an unexpected decision.
The large gate opened, revealing a soft violet glow. It was a teleportation gate used by the mage knights at the border to ease the journey for foreign guests and make it easier for them to reach their destinations.
Lucian wasn’t allowed to use such a luxurious magic spell; the king had forbidden him from using magic since he was twelve.
Inhaling deeply, the dark-haired young man stepped through the violet light, followed closely by his men.
In an instant, Lucian found himself standing before an immense castle painted white. Though not as large as the king’s castle, it was no less grand.
The yard was divided into two sections, with an asphalt road running between them. Numerous colourful flowers bloomed on either side of the lawn, adding a vibrant touch to the scene.
Lucian couldn’t help but smile softly at the beauty of it all.
