"I hope you don’t mind if I steal your husband for a bit. There is still much I want to speak to him about," said Michael.
"You can have him. I will go to our room," Selene informed Xavier.
She wasn’t of any use to their plans, so it was best to stay out of the way. Selene left the pair to speak, hoping that it wouldn’t turn to Xavier wanting to kill Michael soon. She had a feeling, based on the smile Michael wore now, that he might say something to upset Xavier.
Agnes found her way to Selene’s side. "Should I prepare warm water for you?"
"Not yet. I think I will stay up tonight. It’s been so long since I’ve enjoyed the beauty of nighttime. I haven’t been keeping up with seeing what the maids are doing. Remind me to take a stroll around to see their work," said Selene.
"I will. I have been setting out your coats since the days are turning cold. You don’t need them, but it is good to dress to fit the season. There is something I must tell you," Agnes said, nervous about her news.
"What is it?" Selene asked, stopping so she could face Agnes.
"Isaac has spoken of wanting to court me, and I accepted spending some time with him outside of the estate. It would be during the day. Before I accepted, I should have asked what you felt about it. I am sorry," Agnes apologised.
"Why must you know how I feel? This is entirely up to you and Isaac. I won’t get in the way of you being courted by anyone. I am happy for you," Selene said, placing her hand on Agnes’s shoulder. "Have you decided on a dress?"
