Betrayed By The Hero, Loved By The Lord

Chapter 192: Working together (4)

"Today must be my lucky day. Nathaniel has been pulling on all kinds of strings to get you to talk with him and here you are coming to me willingly. Your father will be so jealous if he hears about this. Tell me what is so urgent," Camilla said, taking a seat.

"I want to speak about what made you lose your fangs-"

"No!" Camilla shook her head. "I don’t want to speak about it. How many times must I listen to all of you speak about how foolish my actions were? I have heard it far too many times. I don’t have any more patience to hear about it."

"I can’t recall a time I scolded you or made a mockery of it. I believe you when you say that something came over you. There are others like you starting to show up. Vampires who have attacked humans and now need to be confined to their homes. There is a woman I would like to help," said Xavier.

"So, what does that have to do with me? I have already lost my fangs. As you can see, they won’t grow back just because the truth is out," Camilla smiled so Xavier could see. "None of them gave me a chance before they ripped that from me and your father pushed for it all so I couldn’t challenge his place as father’s favourite."

Camilla never had any interest in being her father’s favourite since she knew what it came with. Nathaniel was so concerned about it that he was always plotting even against his siblings which cost him a bond he couldn’t get with anyone else.

"I want to know what you suspect was the cause. When you look back before that accident, what seemed strange? Who did you meet with before it happened? Tell me so I can find the culprit and clear your name. We must stop this from happening to others," Xavier said, hoping Camilla would have the heart to join.

Camilla laughed. "Where were you years ago when I needed help? This would have sparked something within me then when I was desperate. I don’t have any interest in that, Xavier. They’ve already gotten to me so all I want now is for your father and all the others who let it happen to die."

"I was not around when they decided to punish you and it was not up to me to save you. This family who speaks of sticking together needed to protect you and they failed to do it. Finding the culprit cannot undo your punishment but it can help to stop making more of you. You can be the help you needed back then," said Xavier.
