Chapter 143: Continued conflict (1)
"Again Cassandra? You’re a married woman now so you can’t be running around with men who are not your husband. What is it now?" Bryce asked, looking ahead at the woman who claimed his bed again.
Cassandra covered her face with her hand. "The beds in the church always feel the best. I hate being there with him more than ever. He speaks of a child and turning me into his kind. I don’t know how long I can stop him."
"Well, the child we can get rid of but if you turn, I don’t know how well the others will accept you. Why don’t you keep distracting him? Isn’t your body how you got him-"
"I got him by all of you throwing me in his path and having me do everything he wanted to find my way back here. You did all of that and he is not a man with a good place in the palace. He couldn’t get the king to come to our wedding. Wasn’t the point of all of this to reach the king?" Cassandra asked.
Cassandra was doing her part well but it didn’t feel like the others were doing their part.
"All vampires should be dead by now. Why haven’t you started targeting the purebloods? Those are the ones we need to be most concerned about," Cassandra said, annoyed it was taking so long.
Bryce grew annoyed with Cassandra talking about their plans so openly. Being that they were in a church there would not be any vampires around but there was always a chance one might be close enough to hear them.
"Your part in all of this is to use the hero," Bryce mockingly spoke. "And find your way into the palace. He was the one we thought we could use and he is. He sent out his wife, a pureblood, for you."
"Nothing about that excites me anymore. I wish she was still there so he would waste his time arguing with her. Now all he thinks about is putting his child inside of me. If I am to become pregnant, I will rid myself of the child once I find out. I will not carry one of those creatures," said Cassandra.
