Luo Honglan saw the crystal-clear pieces of cake in the bowl and couldn’t help swallowing hard. She said to Fang Pingying, "Sis-in-law, how do you make these treats look so appealing that one can’t help wanting to eat them?"
"Do you want to eat it?" Fang Pingying pushed the bowl of red dates cake towards Luo Honglan and handed her a pair of chopsticks, "Try it, the flavor of these cakes is indeed quite good."
Luo Honglan smiled shyly, took the chopsticks, and pinched a small piece to taste.
The freshly steamed red dates cake was a bit hot and Luo Honglan shouted ’wow wow’ a few times because it burned her mouth. However, she couldn’t bear to spit it out and eventually swallowed it, but couldn’t taste what the flavor of the red dates cake really was.
Fang Pingying blew on it sympathetically and chuckled, "Silly girl, if the food is hot, spit it out. Swallowing it will make you suffer even more."
Luo Honglan stuck out her tongue and gasped for air, her face full of distress, "But that can’t be done. The red dates and all cost money; spitting it out would be a waste, wouldn’t it?"
Fang Pingying touched her head with a smile, "Wasting is wasting; you can’t harm your own body over it. Look at you, now you’re even more uncomfortable, aren’t you?"
"It’s nothing, I just didn’t taste the flavor of the red dates cake." Luo Honglan said, and still reluctantly glanced at the remaining red dates cake in the bowl.
