"Morning, bride and groom," Emma said sweetly as soon as she entered without looking at the guests ahead. "Hope we’re not late for the wedding to get started ..."
Logan sat up straighter in tense. "Emma?"
Henry gave Jean a subtle nod briefly before his eyes landed on the two Kingsley women. "We’ve got everything ready..."
Emma beamed, her eyes locking on Jean. "The documents are with the lawyer. The board will be present by noon. All that’s left..." She lifted the garment bag. "Is for the bride to get dressed..." Her eyes finally met with Martha and Hannah Kingsley. "What the fuck..."
Silence fell.
Jean slowly stood up, still slightly groggy. Hannah looked from Emma to Henry to Jean, completely lost. "Wait... bride?"
Martha’s face paled. "Jean... what are they saying?"
Jean inhaled deeply. Then looked them in the eyes.
"I’m marrying Logan. Today."
The room went completely still after Jean’s announcement.
Martha and Hannah looked as if they’d just been hit by a train. Their expressions morphed from confusion to disbelief as they looked at Jean... who, despite her hangover, stood tall with resolve in her eyes.
