Chapter 2015 - 2012: Nothing More Than This
"Is that all you’ve got!" Xu Wendong’s lips curved up, a trace of disdainful smile appeared on his face, and he swiftly swung a slap with a whistling wind sound.
A crisp "smack" rang out, resembling a thunderstorm on a clear day, as the slap landed solidly on Leng Shan’s face.
Leng Shan’s originally arrogant face instantly twisted from the hit, his body uncontrollably spun three times on the spot, his steps faltered, and his hair became disheveled.
The entire person was stunned in place, his eyes filled with shock and disbelief.
Leng Shan’s face flushed red, like a ripe tomato, with eyes burning with furious anger, he roared, "This is impossible!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the Soul Power around him erupted like surging tides, and the air filled with a suppressive atmosphere.
He raised his large blade high again, its edge shimmering with blinding golden light, as dazzling as the scorching sun, clearly a Treasure above Fourth Grade.
The large blade was wrapped in tremendous and violent power, like a golden lightning bolt, chopping straight towards Xu Wendong, tearing the air wherever it passed, emitting a piercing ripping sound!
"As expected of the Da Yin Dynasty’s force, their Treasures are indeed extraordinary." Xu Wendong smiled slightly, his eyes flashing with a hint of admiration.
His foot tapped lightly, akin to an agile leopard, displaying the Dark Dragon Roaming Step, his form flashed behind Leng Shan like a ghost.
He knew very well that confronting Leng Shan head-on, although not afraid, would inevitably lead to a fierce battle, possibly to the death.
But his current goal was not to take Leng Shan’s life, nor to let Song Qing, lurking nearby with greedy eyes, reap the benefits.
What he wanted were two alive miners who could help him dig for treasure!
"Smack!"
Xu Wendong delivered a chopping blow with overwhelming force onto Leng Shan’s neck.
Leng Shan only felt his vision go black, his head dizzy, his steps faltering, almost collapsing and fainting on the ground.
"What... what kind of Divine Skills is this?" Leng Shan stabilized himself, his face full of shame and anger, his mouth twitching slightly, tremblingly questioning.
"Why do you care what kind of Divine Skills?" Xu Wendong replied annoyed, with a slightly impatient expression: "I kindly introduce you to a job, yet you don’t appreciate it and even want to kill me, thinking it’s easy to bully me?"
While saying this, he quickly pulled out a Poison Pill from his Storage Bag, this dark-colored Poison Pill shimmered with an eerie glow, clearly not ordinary.
For this Nether Ruins trip, Xu Wendong had prepared meticulously, not only carefully drawing the Netherworld Talisman but also refining a batch of Elixirs, this Poison Pill being one of them.
"You’re courting death!"
Leng Shan was thoroughly enraged, as a disciple of Liufeng Sacred Land, one of the Seven Great Forces of the Da Yin Dynasty, normally high above others, when had he suffered such humiliation, especially with Song Qing watching from the side.
He took a deep breath, his chest heaving violently, his face flushing like liver, the large blade in his hand erupted with dazzling brilliance, instantly unleashing the Sword Technique Divine Skill: "Chaotic Leaf Slash!"
Accompanied by a deafening roar, the blade light like a storm, densely hacked towards Xu Wendong, overlapping with innumerable shadowed blades, seemingly to shred Xu Wendong into pieces.
Leng Shan’s face twisted with a ferocious expression, a flash of complacency in his eyes, believing that this killing slash would surely cut Xu Wendong under his blade.
But strangely, the blade chopped down as if striking a pile of soft cotton, no point of force, instantly dissipating the force.
Meanwhile, Xu Wendong had ghostly appeared beside him like a Phantom.
Xu Wendong moved swiftly like a lightning-fast Blue Hawk, one hand clamping Leng Shan’s wrist tightly and forcefully twisting it, Leng Shan winced in pain, the large blade in his hand clattered to the ground, firmly seized by Xu Wendong.
The other hand flashed with unstoppable speed to shove the Poison Pill into Leng Shan’s mouth.
With a "gulp," the Poison Pill went down, Leng Shan wanted to vomit but found his throat locked by an invisible force, utterly unable to throw it up.
Leng Shan staggered back a few steps, dragging two shallow marks on the ground, his eyes bloodshot, glaring at Xu Wendong like a maddened beast, his raspy voice questioning: "What did you feed me?"
Song Qing stood aside, stupefied, his eyes wide like copper bells, astonished that such a fearsome figure as Xu Wendong had emerged from this minor place in the Heavenly Nether Domain.
The lightning-fast clash earlier was so quick, he didn’t even have time to blink, completely failing to see clearly how Xu Wendong subdued Leng Shan and fed him the Elixir, leaving him deeply shocked,
pondering that if he faced Xu Wendong, he’d likely be defeated in no time, ending worse than Leng Shan.
"Relax, won’t die immediately." Xu Wendong chuckled slyly, explaining: "This Elixir is called the Seven-Day Rotten Belly Pill, just a small trifle."
"Without the antidote within seven days, whether you’re in the Tongyou Realm or higher, death is certain."
As he spoke, he toyed with the Poison Pill Bottle in his hand, emitting crisp collision sounds that echoed like a death knell in Leng Shan’s ear.
Upon hearing this, Leng Shan’s eyes widened in rage, his eye sockets close to bursting with blood, he shouted angrily: "You’re playing dirty? Are all people in the Heavenly Nether Domain so cunning and deceitful?"
Xu Wendong remained unmoved, his demeanor calm and composed, with his hands behind his back like a towering mountain, calmly watching Leng Shan: "Follow my orders, and I’ll give you the antidote after seven days."
"If you won’t listen, you’re free to leave, whether you live or die after seven days is none of my concern." Saying this, Xu Wendong casually stored Leng Shan’s Treasure blade into his Storage Bag.
This action fueled Leng Shan’s inner fire even further, yet he was helpless, growing increasingly apprehensive of Xu Wendong.
Leng Shan knew well that he wouldn’t gain anything today from Xu Wendong, his gaze filled with venom, as if wishing to devour Xu Wendong alive.
Gritting his teeth, he transformed into a stream of light, fleeing swiftly like a dog with its tail between its legs, leaving only the rushing sound of the wind.
Xu Wendong looked at Leng Shan’s departing silhouette, his lips slightly curving, aware that as long as Leng Shan had ingested the Poison Pill, he’d return obediently for survival.
Then, Xu Wendong turned around, walking steadily toward Song Qing.
Song Qing appeared scrawny, his cheeks sunken as if malnourished, the whole person cowered.
He sagaciously kept his head down, his voice as quiet as a mosquito’s buzz: "Sir, I am willing to obey your orders and do the job."
Xu Wendong nodded with satisfaction, a barely noticeable smile appearing on his face, yet he unhurriedly drew out another Poison Pill, gently tossing and catching it in his hand, emitting a "thud-thud" sound: "Eat it yourself, or shall I feed you?"
Song Qing’s complexion instantly turned pale, like an eggplant hit by frost, originally thinking complying would spare him, not expecting to still face the deadly Poison Pill.
"I’ll eat..." Song Qing sighed helplessly, his voice filled with despair and reluctance, thinking even Leng Shan couldn’t match Xu Wendong, resisting would be futile.
