"How can you just barge into this room like this? This is a private room." Annabel Blackwood snapped, clearly vexed by the intrusion. "Do you want to—"
She stopped mid-sentence, startled as she caught a clear view of the woman’s face.
Noticing Annabel’s sudden silence, Sarah Blackwood turned to see who had entered. Her eyes widened faintly, but she said nothing at first. The room was plunged into a heavy silence.
Then—recognition dawned.
"How...?" Annabel gasped.
It took a few moments for their eyes to fully believe what they were seeing. But those striking, unforgettable dark green eyes—they gave her away. Only one woman had those. The woman both sisters hated, feared, and could never fully get rid of.
Jazmine Harrison.
"It’s been a while, Sarah," Jazmine said smoothly as she stepped into the room, completely ignoring Annabel’s scowl. She wore a calm smile, an expression that only made her feel more dominant—collected, above them. "It wasn’t easy finding you. But I managed. I wanted to give you a little surprise before I left for Beijing. After all... it wouldn’t be right to leave without saying goodbye. We were close once, weren’t we?"
Jazmine gestured to the empty chair across from Sarah. "Would you mind?"
Sarah blinked once, then shook her head slowly. "No."
She wasn’t unaffected, but she wasn’t panicking either. Deep down, she’d always known this moment would come. Jazmine’s amnesia had never been permanent. And now that she was back in full, it was only a matter of time.
