Chapter 50: A glimpse into the past
"Which corporate is it?"
"It's Hong Kong's biggest corporate; the Crowne—"
Before he could finish or Jazmine Harrison could process anything, Emily Carrol rushed into the room without a proper knock.
"President, pardon my manners. There is something important." She looked pale. Her hands were trembling, and she was heavily panting like she had run all the way here.
"What happened?" Jazmine was instantly alerted.
"The restaurant... the restaurant where you went with Frank. A man reported to me just now. All the chef crew was found dead in the restaurant kitchen."
At the Mealor Mansion.
A middle-aged man was going through an old album. In the photo, there were four people—Evelyn Sinclair, Adrian Anderson, Leon Anderson, and Catherine Davenport. In all the photos, Catherine was in Leon's arms, and one could easily discern with a little attentiveness that the couple shared a more-than-friendly relationship. The photos belonged to their teenage years. They all had smiles on their faces. One could tell they were close friends, having the best time of their lives. There were pictures from their trips to Japan, Hong Kong, Hawaii, and Switzerland. In fact, there wasn't a single place they hadn't visited together.
Adrian Anderson turned to the next section. This was where the tragedy began. The way Evelyn looked at Leon had changed—longing and envy appeared in her eyes. The four of them were still smiling, but now, only two of them had real smiles. Neither Adrian nor Evelyn's smiles were genuine. Evelyn looked longingly at Leon, while Adrian looked longingly at Evelyn.
Adrian was disturbed by a call from his personal secretary.
"What happened?"
